Sunday Worship Service
13th October, 2013
EBCC Dwarka
11 am
Jesus said to him, “Away from me Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the lord your god, and serve him only’ ”. (Mathew 4:10)
Today’s worship service is a continuation with the theme of this month “Praise and Worship”. The Local Pastor read out from the Bible verse Psalm 95: 1-7, where David proclaimed the mightiness of our God and called for all nations to shout with joy and to give thanksgiving to him! He then dedicates the day’s worship service to the lord for the glorification of his name.
With the Worship Team leading the congregation, it is indeed a pleasure and joy to sing together in praising God through hymns like “Toupa nang omn peuh ah, Hatlou mi ka hi zong and Jesu ka laukha itpa” The hymn that concludes the mass prayer , “ A Siangthoupen Toupa” bring our heart closer to the lord as we reassert that we will worship him.
As being done in the past couple of years, today’s offering is devoted for the Relief Fund. According to the Pastor, a Relief Fund is collected once in a year in all EBC churches. The Proceedings are used to support our fellow brethren, especially those in remote areas, who are less privileged and are barely able to meet their daily needs. During the collection of the offering, the heart touching hymn “Itna sisan luang in” is sing and Elder G. Khamgoupau made the offertory prayer.
Highlighting the North East Christian Meet that has been organized on 12th October, 2013 at Siri Fort Auditorium, the Pastor mentioned that out of the 32 North East Churches in Delhi, 20 churches could participate in the meet. Our Church Youth (BYF) members are the ushers and they have made the church proud with their diligent work. Different items have been presented by the participating church members. A documentary on Nehemiah Project has been shown by our EBC church.
The main speaker, Richard Howel speaks on the topic” Game Changer”. According to him, the North Easterners are very much fertile in spreading the gospel. He focused on how we North East Christians are making impacts across the country and South East Asian nations by acting as messenger of God, especially Missionaries. Instead of focusing on the many problems that we are facing in the North East, the Speaker thus give an insight of how God is using us which is quite heartening and at the same time challenging.
Coming to the main sermon of the day, the Pastor focus on two points:-
- Acts of Worship
- How to worship
Acts of Worship:
Worshipping God is essential for all Christians. In Mathew 4: 7-11, when Satan tempted Jesus to worship him, Jesus said to worship only God and to serve him only. Recognizing the importance of worship, the EBC Churches has kept it as the most important to do. God wants us to worship him not only with our lips, but from our heart (Mathew 15:7-9). Doing the good work that God wants us to do is our duty and it is an act of worship. Our worship would have been futile, no matter how much we have given and we have sacrifices if not for the Son Of God. It is indeed a privilege that God accept our worship because of his son.
How to worship:
There are two ways of worshipping God.
I) Corporate worship (Worshipping in group e.g. Sunday Worship)
II) Private Worship (Worshipping personally e.g. Meditation, prayer)
Both the above forms of worship are equally important. God give us the choice to worship him but he does not want us to be in between. Revelation 3:15 says “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other.” For those wanting to worship him, God wants it to be an earnest worship. Worshipping God should come from the heart with truthfulness. Our truthfulness to worship God should be expressed through different forms like clapping hands, dancing, meditating, etc. After sharing the words of God, the Pastor concluded his sermon with a prayer.
After hearing the importance of worship, how we can worship and how worship is a privilege, the worship service for the day ends with the hymn “Kris ka hauhsakna” and a closing prayer from Elder Tuanmuanthang.
# Baptist Youth Fellowship (BYF) Day would be observed on 19 & 20 October, 2013 at EBCC, Dwarka. While 19th October would be mostly for competitions from the area fellowships, the worship service on 19th October would be at the same time, 11am and it would mark another important occasion for the youth as BYF 2014 Election would be organized.
