WORSHIP SUNDAY!
EBCC Dwarka
October 6th, 2013
Key verse: “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24)
God has been so good to bring us once again to the beginning of a new month. We are here, not by merit but by His grace. Praise be to His name! As it is written in Psalms 96:2. “Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day,” this Sunday’s service is dedicated entirely to glorifying His name through praise & worship. The service begins with songs of praise led by the worship team whose dedication makes each Sunday’s worship a joy. The congregation sings hymns and the church is filled with the melodious sounds of music and voices lifted up to the Lord as David said to the Lord in Psalms 22:22. “I will declare your name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you”.
Being the Pastoral Prayer Sunday, the Pastor prays for the congregants as he addresses any problems they might be facing in their life and offers them up to the Lord. He remembers those blessed by the Lord to have their anniversaries of birth, marriage, employment, etc. fall on this month of October. He remembers those whom the Lord healed from their sickness, misery and any other problems they might have faced in their daily lives. He prays for those who could not find the voice to cry out to the Lord, who are trapped in their loneliness. His prayer reaches out to each and every member, for there in no place so dark that the light of God cannot reach nor a burden so heavy that a prayer cannot lighten.
Seasons turn and the end of one month signifies the beginning of another but it is so much more than that. It symbolizes a new start, an opportunity granted by God’s grace that we may right the wrongs; that we may begin anew and strive to become what He meant us to be. It is a re-dedication of one’s life in God’s hands because it is Him alone who has brought us thus far and Him alone who will see us through the end. To some it might be filled with sad memories of loved ones lost and to others it could be a month of celebration for each of us receive God’s blessing in different ways, at different times but none, not one is denied it. Like the men of old, we do not need to build an altar to the Lord or sacrifice cattle in His name, all He requires of us is that we worship Him in spirit and truth. As we are placed anew into the Lord’s safekeeping, let us try and be worthy of it. This Sunday’s service is a simple one, a service of praise and prayers but isn’t that what God only ever asks of us?
# the coming Sunday, October 13th, 2013 will be an opportunity for us to share God’s blessings to our brethren as we open our hearts to them through our contributions to the Relief Program.
