This Sunday, a representative of Indian Sunday School Union, Rev. Samson Peter from Dehradun gave a talk on the significance of Sunday School and how human development in terms of spiritual, emotional, social can be further enhance through Sunday School. He gave a brief introduction when the Indian Sunday School Union was started in 1885 in Allahabad by 5 church members who formed the first curriculum for Sunday School. The curriculum cater to children from age 2 onwards till 18 years of age. He also highlighted the upcoming leadership/ training program to be conducted by the Indian Sunday School Union in the month of January and May next year and invited participants from the members of the church. Rev. Samson Peter also informed that the Indian Sunday School Union will conduct a 3 day seminar in October next year on creative Sunday School teaching.
After the talk by Rev Samson, a song ‘Amazing Grace’ was presented by the EBC Choir who were participating in the North-East Choral Competition in Thyagaraj Stadium, Delhi.
The pastor delivered this Sunday’s message based on the relationship/ connection between the believers and the world. His message was taken from the following chapters:
1 John 2:15- Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him.
1 John 2:16-For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the father but from the world.
1 John 2:17-The world and its desires pass away, but the men who does the will of God lives forever.
The message has a lot of significance in today’s time because most of us run after worldly pleasures that we tend to forget the spiritual and the promise of everlasting life by God. We have to realize that as Believers we are face with so many temptations that at times it may be hard to resist, we should not fall into the trap of worldly temptations. We are the light of this world and our light should shine on the non-believers.
The service ended with a benediction by Elder Thiankhanmuan.
