SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE

8th September 2013, 11 am
EBCC, DWARKA

The worship began with the reading of a holy scripture taken from Psalm 96 and with words of prayer by the Local Pastor. The congregants led by the worship team lifted their voices in singing the hymns of- 1. Lungdam lua ing Toupa 2. Ka tan Vualjawlna. It was then followed by a mass prayer and singing of the hymn 3. Tunglam a kaih ging kilawm toh. Elder Thianzakham delivered the offertory prayer.

Pastor conducted the child dedication ceremony of Paumuanding and Blessy Kimlawmsiam, son and daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Thangbiaklal and Ching Grace. Paumuanding was born on the 1st July 2010 and Blessy Kimlawmsiam born on the 10th May 2013. Pastor explained about the importance and significance of the dedication of a child to God based on the Bible verse taken from Matthew 19: 13-14 and from 1 Samuel 1:24. Child dedication is done so as to show how thankful one is to God for his blessing. It is also a ceremony used for dedicating the child to God to be used for his own glory and for his purposes.

Local Pastor V. Nenglian based his sermon on the theme Salvation.

Before going into depth of his sermon the Pastor highlighted the Gospel camp to be held on the 26-28 September 2013. A prayer will be held in particular for the camp, campers and the speakers on the 14 September 2013. The camp can be utilised for two purposes- 1.seeking the grace of God for those who doesn’t accept Jesus Christ as their saviour and 2. For those already attaining the salvation of God can seek the purposes of God in their lives.

Going back to his topic, the pastor explained the meaning of Salvation. Salvation in Hebrew means Yesha. It is also used to refer to freedom from limitations. In Exodus 14:13 salvation was used. When the Egyptians and the Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops pursued against the Israelites to overtake them, Moses comforted them that today they would see the deliverance of the Lord. In the New Testament, Jesus used salvation only once i.e, in the book of Luke 19:9. In Biblical terms, salvation also means redemption or spiritual deliverance. It can also be used as a change of ownership. When one attained salvation he is in Christ and was owned and control by only Jesus Christ. Satan doesn’t have authority over the one who attained salvation. The ownership has changed. Salvation can be attained only through the grace of God. Ephesians 2 tells us about how salvation is provided by the grace of God. After which faith is a great determinant of achieving salvation. Sometimes we believers are often confused that by doing good or great works we could attain salvation but the most important way of to attain salvation is through the grace of God and through faith. He concluded his sermon with words of prayer. A hymn 4.Aw pau sang tampi’n lasa ding was sung by the congregants. The benediction by Elder Thianzakham brought the Sunday Service to a close.

BYF JOINT FELLOWSHIP @1:30PM

BYF Joint fellowship was held on the same day after the main programme of the church at 1:30pm. It was presided over by the BYF Vice Chairman and opening prayers by Local Elder Ngulminthang. Pastor V. Nenglian gave a special talk on the topic of Christian Youth and Marriage. He started his talk on the question of the purpose of marriage and why people get married. In the Bible the purpose of marriage is given on Genesis 2: 18 and Genesis 2:24. He highlighted that marriage is instituted by God himself. It is God’s divine way and so it is holy and therefore men shall respect it.  Thus, marriage is- companionship, continuation and also obeying God’s command. In the New Testament, marriage is used in Ephesians 5: 21-32, as a picture of Christ and the church. Love and submission is the cord of marriage.  He also explained on the different forms of marriages- romantic marriage, rescue marriage, companionate marriage and traditional marriage. For a healthy married life one should have many things in common: commitment, satisfaction, communication, conflict resolution, faithfulness, emotional supports etc. Some crucial factors include knowing one’s spouse personality type as well as their family of origin for a healthy marriage.

After the talk by the Pastor the floor was open for discussion. Some of the questions related to divorce, different forms of marriage law, and about marriage ceremony etc. were raised and the Pastor and Elder Chinsum answered in a very satisfactory way. Briefing of Tuailai day 2013 was done by BYF Secretary. The service concluded with benediction by Elder Chinsum.
