Worship Service (18-Jan-2015)
Today’s worship service commenced with an opening prayer after the pastor read out psalm 96:1-4. The worship team took over the stage leading the congregation in singing songs of praise followed by mass prayer.
Offertory prayer was made by Upa. Khamkhanpau.
Child dedication Serviceof one Chinsawmmung Naulak s/o Songthianmuan and Lalmalsawm Nunthuk s/o Paukhanmang was carried out by the pastor. Child dedication ceremony is one such service where the pastor have the privilege of sharing how parents can express their full appreciation to God. Dedicating a child acknowledges God’s sovereignty not only over the child but also the parents.
Our church local chairman Upa. Damsomthang introduced the new Asst. Pastor H. Tuanbiakson and his wife Grace Siamte to the assembled churchgoers. He gave them words of encouragement and appreciation on behalf of the whole congregation and a bouquet was presented by the Dorca President.
Assistant Pastor took over the pulpit to deliver a short speech. He first read out Luke 4:9-19. He shared how God spoke to him through Deuteronomy 31:7(....be strong and courageous, for you must go with these people into the land that the Lord swore....) and Joshua 1:7(....be strong and very courageous, be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.....) to stay steadfast carrying out God’s ministry in EBCC Delhi and he conveyed how he looked forward to work among us.
Pastor’s Sermon(Christian Family-A Family Well-Pleasing to the Lord)
Reference: Galatians 6:7-8
He presented two definitions of family. One by Alban Douglas and the other by Rev.Paukhanmang Guite. Alban Douglas’s definition states that “A Christian home(family) is an institution where parents are bound together by Christian Love; where children are welcomed and scripturally instructed, And the Lord Jesus is not only the supposed head of the family but the actual head; where parents and children gather daily for family worship; where the members of the family enjoy rest, privacy, a sense of security; and learn to work, play, plan together.”
And the other definition given by Rev.Paukhanmang defines a Christian family as “Those family where the parents and children accept Jesus Christ as their redeemer, have assurance of salvation; belief in eternal life and overcoming the fear of death, living under the same roof, following the commandments of Christ as they are, performing the duties of those being acknowledged by God and fight against the enemy of the Lord that is satan.”
From the above two definitions the importance of a family are as follows:-
- Family is the first training ground built by God
- Family has been there since the beginning of time and shall be there till the end of time
- A successful and progressive society shall come forth from a good family
The Pastor concluded his sermon with a prayer and benediction was offered by Upa Kamsuanthang.
