SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE
21st December, 2014
It was one foggy morning and the temperature was as low as 13 degrees Centigrade. The congregational service started at 11a.m. as usual. The church was loosely packed by the time the pastor commenced the service with a prayer committing the congregation unto the Lord’s mighty hands. Then followed a period of Praise and Worship led by the Worship Team which consisted of singing selected hymns and a mass prayer of the gathering. Upa Khamkhanpau consecrated the offertories of the day.
Upa Khamgoupau made an announcement regarding the upcoming Christmas & New Year Programme. A brief report on the recently held EBCC Kumsim Khawmpi was made by the Local Chairman Upa Damsomthang, followed by a felicitation of the newly ordained Elders of the Church, Upa T.Goukhangin, Upa L. Ngulminthang, and Upa Thangkhosiam Tonsing. Response report from the three newly ordained Elders then followed.
Upa T.Goukhangin based his sharing on the scriptures Isaiah 64:8 and Luke 1:38. He shared about how, on introspection on his spirituality, he felt unfit of himself to be an Elder of the Church. Then he spoke of how Mary surrendered herself into God’s plan and her commitment to God’s purpose for her despite everything. He then emphasized the need to have the ability to commit oneself to God come what may.
Upa L. Ngulminthang, on taking up the pulpit, took time to ponder upon the meaning of ‘Eden Paallun Loubang Tulsa Thaksak Ding’- What is ‘Eden Paallun’ and how was it revived by the birth of Jesus Christ? The answer, according to him, was that ‘Eden Paallun’ here means Man’s unreserved (or unrestricted) communication with God. He then spoke of how much a responsibility it would take to become one of the Elders could be felt by the ten ‘Vows’ they had made during the time of their ordination. He urged the congregants to always remember him in prayers, saying that it is upto them to make use of his ordination for him to fulfill his purpose.
Upa Thangkhosiam Tonsing, on taking up the pulpit, was overwhelmed by the tremendous duties lying ahead for an Elder. Nevertheless, he spoke of how he put his trust and faith in God, and that the God who called him will not forsake him. He then urged the congregants to remember him in prayers.
Response report was followed by a presentation by BYF Choir. The Pastor then deliver a brief message on how over-confidence in one’s heart often ends disastrous, and to always make edification of God be the purpose and goal of every deed. He then also mentioned that we should not keep waiting for God to use us – if we are ready to seek Him, He is always ready to meet us halfway.
The Pastor then invoked the benediction, upon which the worship service for the day ended.
Praise God!
