Sunday Worship Service
December 07, 2014
EBCC Dwarka - New Delhi
The pastor started the service by reading from the Holy Bible Psalm 100 and spoke about how each of our daily passages have been guided by God and that we should thank Him each and every other day. He also stressed that God is everlasting and deserving of praise and now that we stand at the end of this year, it should be our priority to end it with the best we can.
Introduction followed closely by Praise and Worship led by worship team. The congregation sang three beautiful songs, two Christmas and one offertory.
- Khovel kipak hen
- Lelliang veh e
- Nunlui liamsa kagel jel a
Pastor ended with a prayer and continued with the sermon for the day. He spoke about the concept of "GIVING" (Piak khiatna) and its basic similarities with Relief Donation (Thohlawm).
He advocates that Christmas is a day of giving. God gave his son, Mary gave her life and the three wise men gave precious stones.
Luke 6:28 & 2Cor 8:7
To receive, one must simple just give. There is no receiving without giving. Even seeds have to die to give way to a sprout and the same way, even we have to first repent so that a new 'we' can give birth.
Apostle Paul often invites Corinthians to consider selfless giving. A man said, 'what we can't give away isn't ours neither what we don't want to give away. If this is right, then we have always been holding on to stuffs that don't even belong to us.
So then, what is it that we should be giving?
- Our own body
- Our own mind
- Give interest in His teachings
- Give joy for everything
- Give donations for his glory
We are to give our own body to Him - Romans 12 gave us excruciating detail on how we should give our looks, our flesh, our thoughts and even our veins to God.
We should give all of our mind to God. If there is anything that we love more than God, then it is wrong. When we start giving, God also start giving us what we need and asked. It is also important to be thankful for what we receive and not just for the sake of receiving is again wrong. He should always be our primary importance in giving and receiving.
We should learn to give joy for everything, look at things through His eyes and appreciate as He would, no matter how hard it may be.
God also claims first born and tithe as His. It is mandatory. When anyone starts giving his/her 1/10 regularly, God blessed them and gave them better and more meaningful ways of spending the rest 9/10.
Acts 20:35 talks about how the apostle John claimed his way of doing should be the right way. God doesn't ask for what we cannot give, He only asks for what we have received as blessings. Therefore, giving in itself is biblical and we should live by it.
The sermon ended and the worship team led the congregation to another gracious song - Khovel khial a mangthangsa.
Relief Donation offeratory by elder Damsomthang was followed by another hymn - Lungdamni thupitak and elder Tuanmuanthang closed the service with benediction.
