HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE
September 21, 2014; 11.00am
EBCC Delhi, Nasirpur (Dwarka)
God had shown us His grace of this pleasant day and a blessed life for an important Church Service.
As the congregations occupied their seat, Pastor Nenglian took time to welcome them at 11am. He read out Isaiah 53:4-6 and made some comments.
Isaiah 53:4-6
4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Thereafter, Worship Team led the praises through songs. An offering was collected while praises of songs were going on; Deacon Langkham dedicated the offerings to God through prayer.
The Sermon and Holy Communion Service:
Pastor took time to minister the Holy Communion Service. He gave sermon before the Communion Service was actually conducted. Here’s the summary:
Holy Communion is one of the two Sacraments of the Church. The other one is Baptism (as immersion in water). This Communion is the symbol of the testament of Jesus’ death and His blood that oozed while redeeming us from sin. Holy Communion is the fulfilment of the Lord’s command ‘to hold it often’. We should consider it important.
Who can take part in the Service?
To preserve the sanctity of the Communion, the Church maintains that only those who are ‘born-again and are baptised’ should take part in the Holy Communion Service irrespective of their age group or stature, etc. As it is a sacred service, those who are being outlawed of the laws of the Church should avoid it.
How are we involved in the death of Jesus Christ?
Romans 6:1-4
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Through Jesus Christ we are at peace with God, the Father. We are all baptised in Jesus Christ to be one body. If we are baptised in Jesus Christ, we are also baptised unto His death.
By faith we are justified through Jesus Christ and be at peace with God. For one man, sin had come into this world, though we were filled by this sin, yet God’s grace is sufficient for us to sanctify us from sin through Jesus Christ.
How couldn’t we sin further?
If sin increases further, so also God’s grace, then, couldn’t we sin more? No, not at all. We cannot further increase in sin as we are being baptised in Christ Jesus and in one body with Him. Being Baptised in Him manifested our ‘oneness and a firm connection with Him’.
If God had lifted Him from death, so also we were lifted up from His death. Then, why should we sin further if we were already death in sin! There is no option for doing sin anymore.
Therefore, it is not because of these things, viz., good behaviour, hard work, good position we occupied, we live in Delhi or our parents are rich, that we have Holy Communion Service. Rather, it is because of God’s abundant mercy which is manifested in Jesus Christ that we can have this Service. This Communion has renewed us, make us a new creation, old life has gone. From this new life, begins a regenerated life, that is, a new beginning and a new birth. We should be aware of all these while participating in the Holy Communion Service. With due respect, we should conduct this Communion in self-retrospection!
The sermon was followed by “Holy Communion Service” led by Pastor and Elders.
The Church Service was closed by Pastor with benediction.
