4TH ANNIVERSARY WORSHIP CENTRAL DELHI EBCC
Sunday | 27 April 2014 | 2:00PM | Christ Methodist Church
Attendees from the EBCC Delhi, Dwarka for the EBCC Central Delhi 4th Anniversary Worship Service arrived just in time. The programme started immediately with Upa Tualzapau conducting the worship ceremony. He made a brief introductory speech and also welcomed each and every one gathered there thanking them for attending the service despite the oppressive heat.
The donations and offertory was consecrated by Pastor V Nenglian. Then, BYF Central Delhi entertained the audience with a beautifully arranged choir in praise of God.
The conductor then introduced each Department Members lauding them for their sincerity, dedication and hard work for having led the Congregation thus far. Then, there followed a reading of selected portions of the Psalms from each Chairmen/person of the Departments.
Pastor Kamzamuan then took to the pulpit and made a brief announcement about the next Sunday being time for the Pastoral Prayer.
The theme of the Pastor’s message for the day was, learning to be grateful, to know how to be grateful. He read from the Scripture, St. Luke’s Gospel 17:11-19. He explained about the 10 men with leprosy who hailed upon Jesus to show mercy on them. Jesus heard them and took pity on them by curing all of them of their leprosy. But afterwards, only one came back to express his gratitude to the Lord. Jesus enquired of the nine who had also been cured but who had not come back.
As seen in the passage, the Pastor then talked about the virtue of learning to be grateful. He said that we should not be like the ungrateful nine leprosy-afflicted men. In life, one must focus on the joyful side of it as well instead of wasting time and energy bemoaning about our regrets. He told the congregation that even when we pray we must learn to thank the Lord for all that he has done for us thus far. How much of our prayers are spent in asking and not for thanking?
The Pastor also said we should be careful not to make a mere ritual out of our worships and prayers and told us to focus on Christ instead. Even when we do good things, we must not expect anything back in return. For if we do, Jesus said in expecting back and having received thus, we would have already earned our rewards and would receive no further rewards in Heaven. In which category do we stand? Are we like the nine ungrateful or are we the one who fell on his knee to Lord Jesus and thank him?
He also warned against following Jesus merely to one’s own end to fulfil one’s selfish ambition. The Pastor concluded his message by speaking against praying or beseeching the Lord only in times of trouble and ignoring Him on happier times when it is time to give thanks.
Then, BYF EBCC Delhi enthralled one and all with the choir Tua Sisan. Upa Damsomthang from EBCC Delhi then had a short sharing in which he lauded Central Delhi Church for its efforts and hard work, after which Upa Khamkhansuan closed the worship service/ceremony with a prayer.
With that, the worship service came to an end. There was a free distribution of the Special Edition of C-DEW to the gathering outside, followed by light refreshment.
