Worship leader Ginmung read out Phillipians 2:6-11 and committed the service to the Lord in prayer. After an uplifting praise and worship session, Upa Zabiak dedicated the offerings.
Pastor Suankhanhau welcomed the first timers/visitors to the church and thereafter, took up the pastoral prayer for the congregation.
The sermon was based on the theme of EBC for December - Oneness through the Spirit of Peace. Pastor Hau highlighted the objective of the theme, i.e. striving to become peacemakers in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. Reading out Matthews 5:9, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God’, he explained that the verse is part of the sermon on the Mount –the beatitudes. The whole sermon on the Mount is about how Jesus did His work/ministry while on this earth. It is also the attitude and characteristics to be displayed by believers as well as the blessedness of being peacemakers which is what God wants us to do and is pleasing to Him.
The first step to being a peacemaker is receiving Jesus Christ through faith and attaining peace with God. Peacemakers are blessed for they will be called children of God. Peacemakers bring reconciliation between/among persons or groups or within the family/society. It is not a passive work but an active one. It is one of the most important work believers should do. The congregation was urged to reflect whether they really have Jesus Christ, the ambassador of peace and if they do, why not take steps to witness Him to others. The world does not need more knowledge or weapons. It does not need anything else for peace except Jesus Christ. Every believer has the responsibility to be a peacemaker and to bring the blessedness of peace to others. Pastor then spoke a blessing over the congregation that the Lord may guide them with His spirit to be peacemakers on this earth.
An announcement by the Christmas and New Year Celebration Committee and TBUC Secretary followed. Upa Thiankhanmuan then read out 1 Samuel 16:7 and along with his team, conducted the election for BYF Committee members for the new term.
Led by the worship team, the congregation sang the last hymn and the service concluded with prayer by Upa Roumuan.
