Worship Leader Ching Lydia opened the service with Isaiah 63:7 after which, the congregation cheerfully sang a few hymnals during the praise and worship session of the service. The offerings were dedicated to the Lord by Elder B Langkham.
The monthly pastoral prayer was carried out by Pastor Suankhanhau. He introduced Reverend Gin Malsawm and Elder Kamkhohen before praying over the church. The recent camp’s report was delivered by JH Ginmung who spoke extensively about the camp, including giving thanks to the people that helped make it a success.
Reverend Gin Malsawm was the sermon speaker for the day. He started his sermon by giving a brief college report after which he introduced the themes for his sermon. One of the major themes was about the christian happiness in Christ that is inherent to many true believers. He put this element in comparison with the current state of most christians who are unable to be joyful in the Lord and are overburdened by the world. He strongly establishes that a life with Christ is the ability to laugh whilst in the storm.
Another major theme of his sermon was the explanation of Joshua 24 which he themed as “God fearing generation”. The reverend warned the congregation to be careful about the chance of misusing the instruments and benefits that God has given us, to stray far away from Him and risk becoming burdened. Elaborating on Joshua 24, he made a comparison between the speeches of Moses and Joshua which revealed that Moses was confident in his successors and hence could die peacefully despite not being able to enter Canaan. Meanwhile, Joshua’s speech indicates the distrust he has for his successors. The reverend further stated that the bigger advantage we have in the world, the chances of a bigger disadvantage are also present. He explained the importance of sowing the seed of Christ in our children’s hearts so that we may not have Joshua’s distrust but Moses’ relief when our time on earth is done. He concluded his sermon by encouraging the church to reflect on the themes of the sermon as well as to minister to our children through setting a good example as a God-fearing Christian, which may potentially save generations.
The worship team then led the church in a short praise and worship session. This was followed by benediction given by Elder H Kam Suanthang, marking the end of the morning service.
