This Sunday’s morning service was opened by worship leader JH Ginmung, who read from the Word, 1 John 4:19. This was followed by praise and worship. Elder T Roumuan then prayed over the offerings for the day. Pastor T Lamkhanthang mentioned a few prayer points before he led the mass prayer.
As today was Sunday school, Pastor Suankhanhau taught from Galatians 3:26 to Galatians 4:8-11. The main theme of the lesson was Unity in Christ. The pastor connected last Sunday school’s teachings, that concluded that true believers were unified through faith in Christ and not law or good works, to the verses in Galatians being taught today. He talked of being baptised in Christ and the way we are clothed in Christ hence; our identity is in Christ which makes us a part of Abraham’s line- gentile or jew, woman or man, slave or free- all are unified and equal to receive Christ’s salvation.
The pastor also highlighted on the believers’ status changing from childhood (illegitimate) to sonship (the right to God’s inheritance) through Christ. He gave examples of the Greek, Romans and Israelite traditions on the rights to inheritance and its application in Christianity. The pastor elaborated on how God in the fullness of time sent Jesus on Earth through a woman, to emphasise His humanity. This meant Jesus was born under the law and fulfilled all of the requirements that would allow us the sonship that cancels all our debts in front of God and gives us access to an intimate relationship with the Lord.
The pastor concluded the sermon by explaining how as a believer, our faith has to be followed by works, and that one must be conscious of not being led astray.
The TBUC secretary then announced the new members of the church after which Pastor T Lamkhanthang prayed over them. The worship team led the congregation in a short worship session and Elder H Kam Suanthang ended the service with a prayer.
