Pastor Lamkhanthang read out Isaiah 53 and committed the Service to the Lord in prayer. The worship team led the congregation in heartfelt praise and worship to the Almighty. After dedicating the offerings, Pastor Suankhanhau urged the congregation to participate in the fasting prayer programme on 7 August 2024 in connection with BYF Bible camp. He then welcomed the students enrolled under NDPN as well as the first timers to the church.
The Holy Communion was conducted by Pastor Lamkhanthang. At the outset, he reminded the congregation of the Lord’s sacrifice, sufferings and death on the cross while giving thanks for all he has done. Reading out Matthew 18:23-35, he spoke of the need to know our time and place on this earth. He warned of the dangers of uttering words and doing things which are unbecoming of God’s children when we forgot our time and place. In the scripture portion above, Jesus taught about forgiveness between servants/brothers as God had forgiven us and said that God will not forgive us if we don’t forgive our brothers. He reminded the congregation to remember the great debt we owe to God and how Christ’s death on the Cross at Calvary cancelled our debt and our sins are all forgiven (Colossians 2:14). As written in 1 Corinthians 6:20, we were brought with a price and ought to glorify God with our life.
Pastor also said that Jesus wants us to remember what we are - a sinner saved by His grace. That is why he told us to partake the Holy Communion or the Lord’s supper. In line with the church theme for the month i.e. Oneness of Nations, he urged the congregation to stand for the truth and not for man, shun hatred and forgive one another just as Christ had forgiven us.
Reading out Jesus’ commandment from the Scriptures, Pastor blessed the bread and the wine and thereafter, the congregation prayerfully partook the Communion bread and wine.
Thereafter, the last hymn was sung and the service concluded with thanksgiving and benediction by Upa Thiankhanmuan.
