Worship Service Write-up

Father's Day Worship Service | 16 June 2024| EBCC Delhi | 2:00 PM

This worship service was a special one, as we celebrated Father’s Day in our community. The worship service commenced with the reading of a few Bible verses from the Book of Isaiah 41:13, 17; 41:16, read out by Htp Eric Lianlalmuan, followed by the praise and worship service. The offertory was dedicated by Upa L Ngulminthang.

The next segment was the Mass Prayer led by Pastor Dr Suankhanhau Gualnam who shared some important prayer points to remember in our prayers. Some key points:-
  1.  With a year already passing regarding the Manipur situation, pray that it will have a resolution soon.
  2. Regarding the above point, God’s help is utterly crucial to see a resolution. Pastor Hau told us that although God is able to protect, one must first run towards the refuge. The first and foremost thing to do is to seek out God’s guidance.

The Baptist Children Department(BCD), and the Dorcas Fellowship(TDCF) took the podium to thank all the fathers present, and gave out gifts prepared beforehand. Succeeding this, Pastor Hau prayed for the congregants and the Mass Prayer was concluded.

The sermon of the day was given by Rev T Thangzasiam, DS Thanlon. Before getting into the sermon, he gave a warm salutatory oration. Rev Siam’s sermon was based off of the following scriptures: Exodus 20:12; Ephesians 6:1-3; Job 10:10-12; Hebrews 3:4. These scriptures mainly talked about obedience to parents, and how it leads to longevity. With all the different religions in the world and their contrasting values and beliefs, one similitude they all have is the respect for one’s parents. God is also our Father, and we must respect Him.
When we take a proper look at the world, we will notice that there is one thing that every human being wants to avoid - death. As long as we have life, we want to prolong that life. We have come up with different kinds of method, whether it be medication, through our diet, or even changing our lifestyle, just so we could live even a smidgen longer. But the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that if we honor our parents, our days will be long (paraphrase). It also tells us in Ephesians 6:1 that it is a good thing/right thing to do. So in conclusion, whatever else there is, above all, do it because it is right. Rev Siam ended the sermon with a prayer.

The preceding segment was followed by praise and worship, and the Father’s Day worship service concluded with Upa Tuanmuanthang giving the benediction.
