Elder Zabiak warmly greeted the congregation on this Missionary Day. He read a bible verse from Romans 10:14 and opened the church service with a prayer. The worship team led the church in praise and worship after which, Elder T. Thiankhanmuan presented the offerings to the Lord in prayer.
The secretary of TBMC then gave a short speech on how Missionary Day came to be. He talked about the arrival of Watkin Roberts, Thangchinpui and their friends to Senvon Village on 7th May 1910. Highlighting that this day has been considered as Missionary Day since a consensus in the Leaders’ Conference during the NEIG Missions Golden Jubilee. He then reported on Missionary donations by the church and suggested several prayer points:
- Thanksgiving for the abundant missionary donations
- Prayer for many more donations
- For the Missionaries everywhere
- For Our Land
Following this, a mass prayer began which ended with Elder Zabiak’s prayer. The Dorcas Fellowship then sang a melodious song for the church.
Pastor Suankhanhau was the sermon speaker for the morning service. Before the start of his sermon, he prayed the monthly pastor’s prayer for the people as it was the first Sunday of the month. Turning his Bible to 1 Peter 2:9 and Deuteronomy 7:6, he illustrated that the words “Chosen Generation” were the theme of the sermon. The pastor emphasized that under Jesus Christ, there was no segregation anymore. No gentiles or jews. That everyone who follows Christ was a part of God’s Chosen Generation.
He elaborated that our tribes had such a low standing before the missionaries came to our villages. And when the Gospel entered our lands, we realized that the Lord had chosen us to be in His family despite our many lacks. The pastor then explained that the Lord had chosen us because He loves us, not because of our beauty or our abilities. He reflected upon the fact that because we are made of His image and that His spirit is inside us, His love for us is the mere reason why the Gospel could spread to a lowly place like ours.
The pastor concluded that through the sufferings and the blessings we have as His Chosen people, He wants to bless others and spread the Gospel to others. Thus, urging the church to respond to the Lord’s call. The sermon ended with a prayer after the worship team sang ‘Hon Domsang’ upon the request of the pastor.
The Mission’s Committee presented a special item in which they sang as a choir. Following, the worship team led the church in hymnal praise and Elder B. Langkham ended the service with a prayer.
