The worship service commenced with a reading of Scripture portion from 1 Peter 2:9, 2 Corinthians 6:2 followed by a prayer committing the service to the Almighty by worship leader James. The worship team led a lively praise and worship and the offertory was dedicated by Pastor Suankhanhau.
Vice – Chairman, TBMC, T. Dongkhansiam led the mass prayer session. Reading out the Missionary Day theme ‘Toupa Zonkhiak Nam’ (Nation sought out by God), he made a list of prayer points as followed –
- Thanking the Almighty for seeking out a small nation like ours
- Missionary Day (7th May 2024) to be held at R.K Puram Christ Methodist Church.
- Missionary and Evangelist Manzarual will join the service at Christ Methodist Church.
- To pray for all our missionaries.
This segment was concluded with a special song ‘Bangchik Ni’ presented melodiously by the BYF Choir.
Pastor Suankhanhau led the Pastoral Prayer for the month of May. He started the sermon by giving a quick overview on how the missionaries brought the Gospel to a backward nations like ours, which only affirms that we were and still are indeed a nation sought out by God. He support his premise by reading Scripture portion from Deuteronomy 7:6 (which he said was addressed to only the Israelites) and 1 Peter 2:9 (addressed to all born again Christians). Contextualizing his sermon, Pastor reiterate 1 Peter 2:9 where he said that we are:
- Chosen Generation - called out to light from darkness.
- Royal Priesthood - through Jesus Christ we have been granted priesthood and we must preserve the Scripture.
- Holy Nation - Holiness is not a burden but a blessing for Christians and that we are to please God so that we can be a holy nation.
- God’s own special people - because of Jesus Christ we are God’s children.
Pastor contemplated on the sacrifices made by missionary Watkin Robert and the early missionaries by highlighting that it was because of their sacrifices our forefathers were able to receive the Gospel and we are able to celebrate the 114th Missionary Day despite being a small nation. He challenged the congregation that it is our responsibility to bring the gospel to the the unsaved nation, we can be a part of ‘The Great Commission’ by contributing our money, through prayer. Pastor made a song request ‘Hon Domsang’ which the Worship team led. He concluded his sermon with a prayer.
Hope Duet (Htp. Zoulian and Htn. Lamhoihching) presented a harmonious song. The congregation then sang the last hymn which was concluded with prayer by Upa S Ngulkhansiam Albert.
