Service begins with Pastor G Khankham reading out the program for today. There is no area wise worship service. Forenoon worship service is for families with no Sunday school-going children. Afternoon service is reserved for fellowship of families with Sunday school-going children.
He then read out Psalm 84:5-10
Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
After this, Pastor opened the service with a prayer.
This was followed by Worship Team leading the congregation with songs and praises.
Post this, Upa L Ngulminthang dedicated offerings to the Lord in prayer. He then continues with giving motivational speech, exhorting and challenging parents and church members to contribute what they can in physical and tangible things; while our pastors contribute in the spiritual and guidance needs in church building.
Sermon by: Rev Dr V Ginsianthang, currently DS Singngat Division.
Sermon on Christian Ethics/Values (Calling and Election) based on 2 Peter 1:5-11
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Pastor challenged the congregation that do we tick all the boxes on these Christian values:
- Faith
- Goodness
- Knowledge
- Self-control
- Perseverance
- Godliness
- Mutual affection
- Love
Whilst all of these are important, Love is at the top. God gave us His Son because of Love. God is Love.
Notice from TBUC Secretary Upa T Goukhangin: As per guideline from EBCC HQ, local church committees will now follow calendar year, and no longer financial year.
Service ended with a benediction by Upa T Songzalian
