Bible study on 1 Corinthians 11:1-34 was taken up by Pastor G. Khankham. The congregation learnt the memory verses (1&26). Pastor then explained the two points on which Paul praised the church at Corinth: firstly for remembering him in all things and secondly, for keeping the traditions he delivered to them. Paul further wanted them to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man and the head of Christ is God. Pastor also touched upon Paul’s preaching on interdependence of man and woman in the Lord; how it is a dishonor for man to cover his head while praying or prophesying while it is dishonor for a woman not to cover her head while doing so. In the same way, long hair in man is a dishonor to him while it is a glory to woman.
Pastor also explained that Paul did not praise the church at Corinth because of division in the church and the manner in which they partook the Lord’s supper. Explaining the significance of the bread and wine, he said that partaking the Lord’s supper in an unworthy manner will make one guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. Lastly, Pastor explained the meaning of the word ‘imitate’ in verse 1 where Paul urged the Corinthians to imitate him as he himself imitate Christ. He also reminded the congregation that the Lord’s supper is a proclamation of the Lord’s death till He comes.
Induction of 17 new members to the church and prayer for them by Pastor Lamkhanthang followed.
The worship service ended with a benediction by ordained elder T. Thianzakham
