Service began with Praise & Worship Team leading the congregation in singing praises and reading the memory verse 1 Corinthians 10:21
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.
Dedication of offerings by Upa T Tuanmuanthang.
BYF election led by Upa T Thangkhosiam. He informed about two changes in relation to BYF as per Annual Conference on Dec 2021:
- Tualsung Baptist Youth Fellowship Committee (TBYFC) to be renamed as TBYF
- BYF age to be reduced from 18-45 to 18-40
After election, status and progress report was given by former Delhi Pastor H Biakson regarding treatment of his wife Siamte.
This was followed by Pastor G Khankham, first giving information about Nurses Fellowship scheduled to be held on 26th March at EBCC Delhi, and invited everyone who is ready to help or attend the fellowship. He then gave a report on Pastor Fellowship held the previous week in Lamka, which he and his fellow pastor Lamkhanthang attended.
He then took Sunday School on 1 Corinthians 10:14-22 - Idol Feasts and the Lord’s Supper
Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.
Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
Summary of the Sermon: Christian believers must avoid all forms of idolatry. There are numerous temples of other beliefs and religions around us. Most of us will not bow down to a statue made of wood or stone; but the idols in our lives are just as real, only a little more subtle. Although we might not face visible idols, we face pressures from a pantheon of false values; i.e. materialism, love of leisure, sensuality, worship of self, and many others. Pastor reminded the congregation that we cannot and should not do these things and then sing praises and worship God a minute later. We must distance ourselves from all forms of idolatry and only serve God.
Congregation was closed by singing and the Lord’s Prayer, led by Praise & Worship team.
