Service began by worship team leading the congregation with praise and worship.
This was followed by Upa Chinsum blessing offerings to the Lord.
Following this, Local Pastor G Khankham led the Holy Communion, the first occasion for the year 2022.
Pastor reminded the congregation the importance of holy communion as it was one of the testaments he left behind and this is a “must” for his followers.
He read the Bible, Luke 22:19-20
And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
Sermon: Pastor draws similarities between The Last Supper and Passover. Just as the Israelites celebrate Passover in remembrance of their freedom from slavery, we must partake in Holy Communion in remembrance of the sacrifice made by Jesus to save us from our sins. He also draws a comparison between the Old Testament and the New Testament. We no longer have to make sacrifices to God because Jesus already sacrificed Himself for us.
Sermon was followed by the holy communion, beginning with worship team partaking the bread and wine - which is a symbol of Jesus’ body and blood - subsequently by the masses and lastly by the elder group.
Post this, Local Secretary Upa T Goukhangin initiated the welcoming of new members (16) into the local Church and prayer by Assistant Pastor T Lamkhanthang.
Service was closed by Upa Ngulminthang with prayer.
