Sunday Worship Service continues to be held online due to Covid-19 restrictions. Participants joined the Service through YouTube and Zoom links. The Service started with opening prayer by Pastor G. Khankham. Thereafter, Pastor H. Zabiak dedicated the offerings to the Lord.
Pastor S. Khamkhanchin Ngaihte delivered a message on the theme of the Church for the year, ‘Draw near to God’ taken from James 4:8. He said that we are living in hard times and the need of the hour is to draw near to our God. Through drawing near to God, we should draw near to one another.
Giving a brief background of the book of James, Pastor explained that the epistle is short and practical, an exhortation to the twelve scattered tribes of Israel and to all believers regarding faith in action. The apostle Paul talks about justification by faith and inner change through faith in Jesus Christ while James continues with how our faith should produce outward change in our lives. Faith without works is dead. True faith leads to right living or right works. Our works testify our faith and a spirit filled man is known by his works.
Pastor further explained the origin of strife as coming from within us, the ‘self’. Friendship with the world is enmity against God. Having a close relationship with God may make the world despise us, but God will never forsake us. The solution for achieving lasting joy and contentment is to submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you. Jesus himself asks us to come to Him and He will give us rest. He wants us to come to Him with all our burdens so that we will receive the peace that passeth all human understanding.
Induction of six new members namely, Chinkhanmuan samte, Chingsuanvung, Mercy Chingjemkim, Chinglianmawi, Eric B Mungkhansian and Ngaibiakmoi followed. Pastor T. Lamkhanthang prayed for the new members.
The Worship Service ended with prayer and benediction by Upa T. Thiankhanmuan.
