#Pastoral Prayer for the month of August was done by Pastor Thuamminlian.
#Sermon/ Pastor G.Khankham/ FORGIVENESS WITH OUR FELLOWMEN/ Colossians 3: 13, 14 ( 1-17).
# The epistle of Colossians was written by the Apostle Paul to the people of Colossae, a very small town in ancient Asia Minor.
# Apostle Paul was very concerned about this church as Nostism was prevalent among them. He wanted to remind them that Jesus is the sovereign son of God.
# He wanted the Colossians to seek God's will and walk according to the purpose for which they were chosen: to be patient, humble, forgiving and loving.
- Colossians 3: 1 denotes that the Colossian church was saved / born again.
- In Colossians 3: 1-17, we find 5 specific duties assigned by Apostle Paul to the church, which still applies to the present church (us).
- Having been risen/resurrected with Christ, we ought to seek things which are above, where Christ is sitting on the right hand of God.
- We ought to set our affections on things that are above and not love the things of the world such as it's wealth, pleasure and so on.
- The third duty is to mortify wordly desires such as fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affections, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is idolatry.
- We ought to put off anger, malice, blesphemy, greed and filthy communication out of our mouth ( Colossians 3: 5).
- As holy children of God , we ought to be merciful, kind, humble, meek and long-suffering.
# The opposite of these leads to a defeated Christian life.
#The above 5 points duly accomplished will eventually help us forgive and live in harmony with our fellowmen. Forbearing one another and forgiving one another is true spirituality. Above all these, we ought to put on love/ charity (Colossians 3:14) which is the bond of perfection, which entails all the above points. This forgiveness, love and eventually peace is regardless of one's position, age, wealth, capability , and is pure and holy which is the will of God towards us, just as we have been forgiven by God of our sins through the sacrifice of his only begotten son Jesus Christ, who humbled himself to the point of giving up all His glory as the son of God. Therefore, the more conscious we are of what we have been given (forgiveness) and the aforementioned points, forgiveness with our fellowmen will be achieved as a holy and desirable sacrifice to God.
# The online service was concluded with prayer and benediction by Pastor G.Khankham.
