Pentecost Day sermon by Pastor G Khankham
The term "Pentecost" is derived from the Greek word meaning "fiftieth". In Judaism, the 50th Day is called the Festival of Weeks; a harvest festival that is celebrated seven weeks and one day after the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread or seven weeks and one day after the Sabbath.
In Christianity, Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks, as described in the Acts of the Apostles
On the day of Pentecost all the believers and apostles from about 17 nations were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
Peter preached among the believers and the naysayers for the first time and converted thousands into new believers. The apostles and believers, for the first time, were united by a common language, and a common zeal and purpose to go and preach the Gospel.
The promise of the Holy Spirit is for all everyone who receive the call to repentance.
The pastor tells us that Pentecost should remind us to restore our Spiritual and Christian lives by letting the Holy Spirit guide and lead:

This Pentecost, let the Holy Spirit, who gave courage and strength to the terrified and lost apostles after Jesus had left for heavenly abode, pave your way through this pandemic and testing times. He who was touched by the Holy Spirit was healed. He who stood in its shadow was healed.
In Jesus' name, seek for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Repent and get baptised while you still have time in your hand.
