A missionary's testimony
Mr. N. Thangbiakmuan, one who has devoted his life to be a missionary to Thailand, shares about his calling. He has been taken care of by his mother, Mrs. Vungkhanning since birth. He got salvation at a very tender age of 8. He had the assurance of salvation on the Scriptural portion of Colossians 2:15. He had his first calling for the service of the Lord on the story of Abraham’s calling during the crusade of Evangelist Timothy Tuolor at his native village, Central Lamka. Since then, he has been involving with the worship team in the Church services and later became a member of EBCC’s Central Choir where he actively participated for about 10 years.
Years went on, and during the Gospel Centenary celebration at Lamka, he was intensely moved by the story of Watkins Robert who came all the way from Wales to Southern Manipur bringing the Gospel that he offered himself to work for Jesus Christ. The story of the 4 lepers seen in 2 Kings 7:9 stirred his soul again. During a mega event of EBCC’s Tuailai 2010, the Scriptural portion of Jude 23 spoke to him once more and in that very instant, he offered his life to be a missionary. During those days, he was in the Bible College. In 2013, during Missions Conference at Shillong, he acquired an inclination to become a missionary somewhere in South-East Asia. Later, he had the opportunity to interact with Thai people during a Youth Conference in Bangkok. In 2016, he made up his mind to be a missionary among the Thai people while listening to the message of Mr. Khamsuanthang Valte from the Worldwide Evangelization for Christ (WEC). WEC is founded by Mr. C.T. Studd in the year 1913.
Evangelist T. Damkhothang on 'Christian Life'
Evangelist T. Damkhothang shares the word of God on the topic ‘Christian Life’. We Christians are not meant to be a boss, but rather servants. God expects us to bear fruits and our main task is to listen to the word of God (Matthew 3:16-17). Jesus called His 12 Disciples to be with him in the very first place. They were meant to listen to the word of Jesus and learn how to be good servants. The Disciples were trained so well that they lived and died for Him (except Judas Iscariot). Evangelists and Preachers cannot bear fruits when they distance themselves from the Bible. They need to keep in touch with the Bible. God talks to Believers through the Bible, and of course, through other people. To illustrate this, he told the story of one woman who believed that God alone would deliver herself from a flood and did not pay attention to other peoples’ helping hands.
There are two theories on trusting the Lord – The Monkey Theory and the Cat Theory. The first one is about believers clinging to the Lord while the latter is about believers resting under God’s care. For believers, listening to God’s word is a must for they are securely held on to His hands. Laziness is our main problem. The Flesh and the Spirit are always battling. God abhors Luke warm Christians as seen in Revelations 3. Believers need to abstain from intoxicants and unholy things. To illustrate this, he told the story of a Parrot and its owner.
Believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit. We cannot conduct ourselves as we like. There are three types of people – one who try to lead the Holy Spirit, one who walks with the Holy Spirit and one who is guided by the Holy Spirit. Believers are meant to be guided by the Holy Spirit. Each believer has a task and we are to live a life pleasing to the Lord. We must be reading the Bible. Jesus expects us to be servant, not masters. Apostle Paul, James and others called themselves servants of Jesus. To illustrate this, he told the story of a very obstinate slave who is transformed by his master’s attitude.
