THREE THINGS NECESSARY FOR LIVING A LIFE OF WORSHIP
~ Pastor Biakson

Isaiah 6:1-13

Pastor Biakson's sermon on 31 July 2019 was a loaded message with an in-depth study of Isaiah chapter 6. In the year King Uzziah (the king of Judah) died, prophet Isaiah was in the temple of God when he saw a vision of the exalted Heavenly King.  Unlike most people who tend to see only Uzziah, the powerful & benevolent earthly king, Isaiah saw the King of kings who is in heaven.

Prophet Isaiah saw the LORD sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe that filled the temple. The winged seraphim stood above Him and repeatedly proclaimed his holiness and glory in all the Earth. This vision of the LORD led him to reflect upon his own life and he saw how filthy he was in front of God. As he reflected and discerned his unclean nature, one of the seraphim that had been praising God (v. 6), flew to him with a burning coal taken from the altar and touched his mouth with it, saying that his guilt had been taken away and his sins atoned for. And, once his sins were purged, Isaiah started hearing the voice of God. "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" (v. 8) Not only did Prophet Isaiah hear God's voice, he also responded "Here am I! Send me."

Obedience to God's voice surely yields fruit. Isaiah was told to relay the message of God to the people. Though there will remain people who "Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive" (v. 9), yet there will be a remnant, who will hear his words and be blessed by them.

To summarize it:

1. Vision of God.

Isaiah saw both an earthly king and the heavenly King. Seeing God as we should makes us overcome all challenges that come out of hopelessness that fills our hearts when our earthly kings/ boasts failed us.

2. Vision of self.

Vision of God leads to clear vision of self that in turn leads to conviction of sin in front of God. Conviction of sin further leads to cleansing of sin by God. This further leads to hearing the voice of God.

3. Vision of one's duty.

Hearing the voice of God, leads to one knowing his/her purpose and duty for life. This knowledge purges us from routine gossiping, jealousy, slandering and all sorts. We can become focused on our own purpose.

Vision of God produces vision of self, which in turn produces vision of one's own duty and that is success guaranteed. God foresees the holy seed that will remain at the end, the remnant that will believe in Him (after many refused to believe) and fulfill His Sovereign will. So, my dear brothers and sisters, one pertinent question I would like to ask and leave with you tonight is - Have you ever experienced seeing a vision of the Heavenly King in your life? If your reply is yes, seeing yourself and knowing your duty will not be a challenge for you. If not, then, may the message of tonight be an eye-opener for you. How great is our God. God bless you all!
