Local Upa Thangson in-charge of GBC for EBCC Delhi highlights various programme undertaken by Grace Bible College since its inception in 1983. GBC has produced 1528 graduates in various degrees so far, among which 17 of them are presently members of EBCC Delhi, including both our current pastors. One can contribute for the growth and welfare of GBC by way of sponsoring students and contributing financially.
Mr. Ginmuanlian, M.Div., shares the word of the Lord on ‘Bible’ based on the scriptural portion from 2 Tim 3:16. At the very outset, he gives thanks to the Lord which is followed by a brief introduction about him. He lost his father way back in 1997 during the ethnic class. He was luckily brought up at faith home from where he passed his twelfth class in 2011. He then completed B.Th. degree at GBC in 2014. He came here in Delhi in 2017 to search for an opportunity for further studies. He thanks God for the salvation he received in 2007 and praises His name.
He greets the congregants on behalf of GBC and gives short report about GBC. GBC is a prestigious Bible institution where one can pursue various degree programme. At present (last semester), there are 173 students, 13 teaching staffs and 11 non-teaching staffs. Rev. Dr. M. Khamkhanchin is the Principal of GBC. The high quality of the college and its limited seats are the reasons why people rush for admission. Students from Tripura, Maharashtra, and other states; and even from abroad come and do their courses here in GBC. It’s advisable to step inside the campus when one stays at hometown. It also has the best library in town with huge volume of books.
He then presents the overview of GBC with the help of a PowerPoint. Palestinian map was skillfully constructed within the campus where one can have an idea of the terrains of Palestine, the Holy Land. GBC, established on 4th July 1981, has ‘Teach, Entrust and Witness’ (2 Tim 2:2) as its motto. GBC has been funded by Tear Fund earlier. EBCC Headquarters, various local churches and some well wishers are supporting GBC at present. GBC is committed in upholding and imparting the evangelical teachings such as the supremacy of Grace, Faith and the Scripture.
Subjects like Theology, Languages, Pastoral Care and Counseling, Church History, World Religions, Christian Family, Homiletics, Apologetics, Christian Ethics, etc. were taught. It touches social, science, history, politics, religions, doctrines, family life, personal life, spiritual life and all areas of education. Achievements so far are such as the production of 1535 graduates, 70 Missionaries, 50 Pastors. Many of the graduates are working as Cross-cultural Missionaries in China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and India. Many more are working as Pastors in different parts of India. Many other graduates work in different ministries all over India.
Bible is written by about 40 people from different backgrounds, at different places and time. Moses wrote the first book around 3000 BC whereas St. John wrote Revelations around 90 AD. It was written at Europe, Asia and Africa at different times, which spans for about 1500 years. Yet, there are no contradictions or inconsistency. It mentions, “The Lord says” 3,800 times! It’s all about the word of God (2 Tim. 3:16). The Prophets did not think these things up on their own, but they were guided by the Spirit of the Lord (2 Pet. 1:21). Everyone who has faith in the Son has eternal life (Jn. 3:36). This verse is re-assured in Jn. 3:16. Salvation is by grace through faith” (Eph. 2:8).
He illustrates his sermon with a fitting story. A person who lives all his life free from intoxication has the tendency to believe that he lives a righteous life and does not commit any sin to feel sorry about. There was one such person who accepted Jesus Christ in 2008. He went to the Pastor and told him that sometimes he feels himself very Godly while at times he considers he backslides. He was so confused about assurance of salvation to the extent that he would be convinced only if he got confirmation from an Angel. The Pastor replied and told him that confirmation from an Angel is not an assurance good enough. Even Lucifer, himself can mimic Angels!
