Thanksgiving Day message
“This is the LORD’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes,” opened the message by Upa Damsomthang, the first Chairman of EBCC Delhi. The long history of EBCC Delhi established way back in 1992 was briefly recalled, and the memories of those who have passed on fondly cherished.
Induction and Prayers
Upa Thiankhanmuan conducted the induction of new members into the Church. The Pastor performed a special prayer for the new members, and followed it with the monthly Pastoral Prayer.
Message from Rev. Dr. B Luaichinthang
The Reverend had exciting news to tell: an English-Paite parallel version of the Holy Bible (New King James Version), the first of its kind to be, is in the making and expected to be out for distribution by the end of July; “Dawite’ kulhpi sung ah,” a gripping narrative on the experiences of Mr Paukhogin of Dialkhai who was held captive by the demons for six long years in the 50s, is a must-read to better understand the adversaries we are dealing with in our Christian life.
A brief history of GBC: Grace Bible College was established on July 4, 1981 in New Lamka, Manipur. The need for setting up the college was felt in the early days of the EBC when only a handful had the proper theological training and the Convention was largely short of leaders. Today, 145 students from various communities of Manipur and other states of India and even from countries like Nepal and Myanmar are enrolled in the College.
Scripture references: Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17
The Reverend brought out the peculiarity of Psalm 119 in that the traditional Hebrew alphabet had 22 letters, and written sentences ran from left to the right, and King David had written the Psalm in a unique way: there are 22 parts in Psalm 119 for each letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and each part consists of 8 verses or lines, each of the 8 lines beginning with that part’s letter. Thus, 8 lines times 22 letters in Hebrew gives 176 verses of Psalm 119.
The theme of Psalm 119 is the Word of God and His laws, precepts, testimonies, statutes, commandments, decrees, and promises; a manifestation of His glory and grace. While man wanders and seeks the glory of God, God Himself makes His gracious voluntary self-disclosure through the book of Revelation. The Lord reveals to us through His Creation, through Nature, through the Bible, and through Jesus Christ! “The Bible will keep you away from Sin, or, Sin will keep you away from the Bible.”
Closing
The Day’s service came to a close with a benediction from Upa Thianzakham.
