Topic - Breakup your fallow ground
Sermon by - Pastor Biakson
Bible verse - Hosiah 10 ; 12 (relating to the whole book of Hosiah)
Pastor Biakson based on the book of HOSIAH explains how Hosiah's life is compared to Israel. How God told him to practically accept and take an adulteress wife and marry her which is a comparison to how Israel is, as much as God love her, Israel' would repeatedly defy against his words and turn to other gods and idols which break His heart but He never leave the land and want them to break their ground and come back, revive their lost souls and turn to Him again.
The book of Prophet Hosiah : belief to be written since 800BC , he was the first prophet of Israel's northern kingdom and was a contemporary of prophet Isiah and Mikah (southern kingdom), his main theme is on Israel's unfaithfulness and God's redeeming love
Unfaithfulness of Israel :
- being compared to an adulteress woman (HOSIAH 1:2)
- to proof practically God let Hosiah marry ana adulteress woman Gomer (daughter of Diblaim)
- childrens of Hosiah Jezreel, Lo-ruhamah, Lo-ammi reason behind their names in (Hosiah 1:3-9)
- quoted Hosiah 6:4
Gods' unfailing love :
- Israels are not God's people but they will be called sons of the living God (Hosiah 1:10)
- Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the Lord toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine (Hosiah 3:1)
- Hosiah 11:1-4
What is a fallow ground :
- field kept unused for a good harvest
- breakup your fallow ground(to revive an unused field which once produce a good harvest to reproduce is to breakup fallow ground)
Israel's fallow ground that needs to be broken down and restored :
- they lost the love of God (Hosiah 1:2, 3:1) Israel defy Gods love like an adulteress woman and choose to depart from God and live and adulteress life, turned to other gods
- ost the real meaning of true worship (Hosiah 2:13) worship other gods and burn incense to ba-als, defy Gods covenant like Adam
- lost truth and righteousness(Hosiah 10:2,13)
- lost their faith in God (Hosiah 10:1,13)
- forgotten the love and compassion of God (Hosiah 11:1-7)
- rebel against God's covenant and law (Hosiah 8;1)
WHAT ABOUT YOU AND ME (lets look at ourselves, are we like Israel, can we breakup our fallow ground and return to Him for He is waiting with His never ending love)
Those who breakup for their self righteouness, reap the fruit of unfailing love (Hosiah 10:12, 6:1-2, 1:10, 3:1, 11:8-9, Sam 51:17-19)
Turn yourself away from your wicked and adulteress way, breakup and restore your fallow ground and sow yourself the seed of righteousness, reap the harvest of Gods unfailing love
