WORSHIP SERVICE (2nd November 2014)

The Local Pastor started the service by reading out passage from the book of Psalm and said a prayer. The worship team led the praise and worship which is followed by mass prayer and offertory prayer by Upa Thiankhanmuan. The pastor conducted a child dedication of Chinglemsiam d/o G. Siamkhanlian and   continued with pastoral prayer for the month. This was followed by EBCC Delhi choir for NE Choral competition presenting a beautiful harmonious song “it is well with my soul”.

Pastors message

The sermon was based on 1 Corinthians 9 :24-27

24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
25Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
26Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
27No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Believers’ life is a race. It is a competition. But the competition is not between us humans on this earth rather a competition or a race between believers and non believers of a spiritual world. For believers, God has promised us a reward which the non believers will never receive. That reward is eternal life in heaven and we shall run the race towards achieving this reward.

Just as an athlete exercise self control and is under strict training and regime, how much more as a believer should we exercise self control so as to stand against evil spirits? To attain self control a believer must desert all his desires, throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entanglesand run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

The worship service ended with a benediction by Upa Damsomthang.
