Sunday Worship Service-Cum-Sunday School 20-07-2014

The Pastor read out Psalms 118:1-5 from the bible and committed the worship service unto God’s hands with a word of prayer.
And the worship team took the stage and sang hymns; Kumpi te kumpi, Ava kikhum bang sal in ka tang, Tul ngeilou followed by mass prayer.

Report on Youth Summer Retreat was given by BYF committee member Kapgoulian Vualzong. A total of 70 youths from EBCC Delhi under the guidance of our Pastor V. Nenglian and Asst.Pastor Khaikhuphang partook in this retreat which was held in YMCA Camp, Sattal Lake, Uttrakhand from 16th to 19th July 2014.

Sunday School (Luke 6-9)

Chapter 6

  1. What is unlawful on the Sabbath.
  • When the Pharisees accused Jesus and disciples of picking heads of grains and eating the kernels which was considered unlawful on the Sabbath day to which Jesus said to them “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath”.
  • On another instance the Pharisees accused Jesus for breaking the law of Sabbath by healing a man whose right hand was shrivelled to which Jesus replied, “i ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?”

Hence, it is not forbidden to help others or to carry out God’s work on Sabbath day but what is unholy is to be not able to devote time for God.

  1. Blessings and Woe (v.20-26)
  • Blessed are those who are poor(poor for they are helpless without God and are constantly relying on Him).
  • Blessed are those who hunger for God
  • Woe to those who are rich for they are constantly seeking appreciation from others.
  1. Teachings (v.27-49) e.g. Love your enemies, Do not judge, etc.

Chapter 7

  1. Acts of Healing (v.1-7)
  • Healing of a centurion’s servant in the town of Capernaum. Jesus was amazed at the centurion’s great faith.
  • Raising of a widow’s only son from death in the town of Nain.
  1. Jesus’s description of John the Baptist (v.18-35)
  • Here Jesus states to the crowd that among those born of women there is no one greater than John.
  1. Events that took place in Simon Pharisee’s house (v.36-50)

Chapter 8 – Jesus’s Ministry

  1. The women who helped/assisted Jesus and his disciples out of their own means (v.1-3)
  2. Parable of the famer scattering seed (v.4-15)
  3. Parable of the lamp (v.16-21)
  4. Jesus rebukes the wind and the raging waters (v.22-25)
  5. Healings (v.26-56)
  • Jesus casts out demons (in Gerasin)
  • Raising of Jairus’s daughter.
  • Jesus heals the bleeding woman.

Chapter 9

  1. Jesus sends out the twelve disciples and The Feeding of the 5000.

Jesus gave his disciples the power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

  1. Knowing Christ.

When Jesus asked his disciples, “who do the crowds say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah”

  1. The Transfiguration.
  1. The Disciples’ argument as to who will be the greatest among them?.
  1. Jesus sets out for Jerusalem.

Conclusion

God has authority over all things. Nothing that God doesn’t permit will come upon us. God has a purpose behind whatever that comes upon us.

Worship service ended with the singing of doxology and Lord’s Prayer.

On the Occasion of Pastor Thangkhanmuan Vualnam, Dimapur Area Pastor and his family visiting EBCC Delhi on 20/7/2014, during worship service he was given time for short self-introduction & a report. After the worship service ended there was a short talk/interaction with the visiting Pastor.

Wife’s Name: Ngaikhanman

Children’s Names: 1) Siambiakching(daughter) and 2) Joel Sonmuan(son)

Under the ministry of God in 2007 he started his work as Pastor. Currently he is working as area Pastor in Dimapur since 2011. His area of work consist of Dimapur(28 families) and Kohima(11 families). The EBCC members in Dimapur are between 120-130. In the distribution of areas they come under Karbi Anglong Mission Field.

“Though hardship come while working for God’s ministry, God delivers me from those hardships so i have no regrets” he says.

EBCC Dimapur have Guest House facility for travellers. There are no fees for Mission Workers but for the rest the fees are as such: for Room/Bed they take Rs.250/- ; Dormitory they take Rs.100/-. The distance of EBCC Dimapur Chapel from Dimapur Train Station is only 2Kms, the distance is about 6miles from Dimapur Airport.
