Worship Service Write-up

Sunday Biakna Kikhop | 18 September, 2022 @ 11:00 AM

Worship leader Ginmung read out John 13:34-35 and ordained elder
Khamkhanpau committed the worship service to the Lord in prayer. Praise and
worship session followed. Ordained elder Khamgoupau dedicated the offerings
to the Lord.
Pastor Lamkhanthang welcomed the first timers/visitors to the church service
and distributed GBC certificates to some of the members in recognition of their
support to the Bible college as Individual Patron and Student Supporter. The
names of such members are - Jamkhoman, Thuambiaklian, Ngailiansang, Ruth
Lianhoihching, H. Zabiak, Liankhanlam, Nembiakmuang and Nemlianching
Hanghal. Thereafter, Nu Neihkim presented a special number composed by
brother Samuel Hauzel.
Before taking up the Sunday school bible study on 1 Corinthians 14:26 – 15:11,
Pastor Lamkhanthang thanked and praised God for answering the prayers of
the church as many of the youths who went for the gospel retreat programme at
Sattal, Uttarakhand have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He
also reminded the congregation that the most important programme of the
church is prayer. Without it, camps, crusades etc. are not as effective. The
congregation then learnt the memory verses viz. 1 Corinthians 14:40 and 15:2.
The important points discussed during the bible study are as under:-

  • Worship in church is to done decently and in order. The real purpose of
worship is for edification. Praise, teaching, speaking in tongues and
prophesying are all to be done for edification and not for personal glory.
  • While speaking in tongues, one should not compete with one another but
take turns. The problem in the Corinthian church is that those who speak
in tongues considered themselves at a higher spiritual plane than others.
  • If one person speaks in tongues, there should be another to interpret. In
case there is no interpreter, he should be silent and speak to himself and
    to God.
  • The stand of the church regarding speaking in tongues is that after the era

of the apostles ended, we now have the complete revelation/words of God through the Bible.

  • When one speaks, others should listen and judge whether his words are
true or not for there are false prophets and teachers.
  • Women are to remain silent in church. This means that they should not
try to gain authority but keep a peaceful atmosphere in the church.
  • The presence of God and fellowship of the Holy Spirit is evident in a
peaceful atmosphere without strife. For we have the peace of God within
    us.
  • In matters of worshipping God, all things - our music, decoration, dress
etc. should be decent and in order.
  • Salvation is not mere knowledge that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was
buried and rose again. We need to stand on it and hold fast to the truth of
    it.
  • Christ died according to the Scriptures, was buried and rose again
according to the Scriptures. He did not die because of our illnesses but
    because of our sins.
  • Though some people deny Jesus’ resurrection, Paul proved that he rose
again by stating that He was seen by Peter, the twelve disciples, more
than 500 people, James, the apostles and Paul himself.
  • Paul described himself as the least of the apostles but he is what he is
because of the grace of God. He labored more than them through the
grace of God that works in him.
  • Paul knew he was unworthy. The knowledge of what he is did not turn
him away from God. The more he realized his unworthiness, the more he
    labored for God.
  •  We need to understand how sinful we are in order to understand the grace
    of God.

Led by the worship team, the congregation sang the last hymn and ordained
elder Khamkhanpau closed the service with a benediction.
