Worship Service Write-up

Sunday School | Pastor G. Khankham | 06 March 2022 | 11:00 AM

BIBLE STUDY ON 1 CORINTHIANS 9:1-18 (LESSONS 1 to 3)

The 11 AM Worship Service began with praise and worship led by the Worship Team. Ordained elder T. Thangkhosiam dedicated the offerings to the Lord.

Pastoral prayer being held every first Sunday of the month, Pastor G. Khankham invoked the blessings and protection of God for the congregation. Led by the worship leader, the congregation jointly read out the memory verses from the text of the bible study, 1 Corinthians 6:20 and 1 Corinthians 9: 7&16.

Pastor gave a brief background of Paul’s First Epistle to the Corinthians which includes facts about the city of Corinth, a bustling commercial centre; worship of idols and rampant immorality among the people; Paul’s deep bond with the church and the problems within the church. He then explained Paul’s defense of himself as an apostle citing the Law of Moses which states that an ox should not be muzzled while it is treading out the grain. He further expounded on what Paul said that the Lord has commanded those who preach the gospel to receive their living from the gospel. Paul did not use this right. He said that he was compelled to preach the gospel and woe is he if he did not do so. Pastor then exhorted the congregation to be faithful stewards of the gospel to avoid the fate of the person who gave back the original talent to his master in the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30.

The Worship Service ended with prayer and benediction by Ordained elder T. Thianzakham.
