‘Christian Youths: The future of our land and nation is in our hand’
~ Vungzamuan Valte

Youths are the nation’s strength, the nation’s future and the nation’s backbone. A nation whose youths are weak can never be a strong nation; can never be a strong country. A strong and developed country is one which has strong youths. The youths are the assets of the nation and of the denomination.

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” - I Timothy 4:12

The days of our youth are the best days of our life. But people might look down on us because we are young. Therefore we must learn how to speak, how to conduct, how to love and as such so that they will not look down on us. If we learn all these, we will be able to conduct ourselves like grown-ups even in our youths.

“You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.” - Ecclesiastes 11:9

How the Lord leads me – Testimonials

Right after I finished my high school, I didn’t join any college. My only goal was to get a job. But what job? That, I don’t know. My matriculation result was out, and I sent my mark-sheet for a job in Postal Service, they called me for a job in Bihar to which I declined. Then there was a matriculation post in Manipur University, they did all sorts of tests: written, interview and typing, and I got selected. That was a stepping stone for me. After which I was able to register myself in a college, graduate and eligible for appearing many (government job) examinations.  Unexpectedly, I was able to appear Mains (CS) exams without attending classes and by the grace of God, I am now a Commissioner.

 The Wonderful Youth Days

Our youth days are very precious period of our life. During this period, we are often told many things in life which we mostly do not listen to, and we realise them too late. Thus we must be careful how to make use of this valuable moments otherwise we will stumble later. We must be punctual in every aspect. In the society, we must be able perform the tasks and responsibilities given to us according to our potential. Involvement in social organisations shapes and moulds us to be a grown-up. But we have to know the limit. We have to be self-disciplined. We must know our area of interest and have a strong determination to achieve our goal. Finding out what we are good at and bad at is also very important.

Hindrances to Growth

Inferiority Complex:  We often have this negative mind-set that others are better than us. We must have a ‘if others can do, I can also do’ mind-set. Besides having a burning desire, we must dispose of this bad complex.

Language: You are in Delhi but if you go back home without knowing Hindi, I will call you stupid. One cannot be as effective as one is expected to be if one is not good at Language.

Group-ism: Let us try to make good friends among other tribes/religions as well. Let us not confine to ourselves alone.

Social network: Many of us are very brave in social networking sites. We fight verbally and quarrel with everyone online. What do we gain from this?

What is Success?

A successful person is one who attains physical, mental and spiritual maturity. To be considered a mature person, we must be able to earn and make a living on our own. We must be able to stand up on our own feet. Even our parents must be able to depend upon us. We must also play a pivotal role in the society. A successful person brings happiness to the family. All this sums up what success is.

What is a Good Job?

To me, an example of a good job is Nurse. A good job is a stable income job. Health care related job will never cease in this world as there is ailments every day. A good job is a job which has future. Government/Semi-Government sector jobs are the most favourable jobs. If you are working in a private sector, try to find out your skill besides what others can normally do. If you do not develop your skill each day, you will become redundant one day.

CONCLUDING REMARKS - by Pastor H. Biakson

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you: life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” – Deuteronomy 30:19

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” - Proverbs  3:5-10

There are always two things in life: there is good and bad, there is up and down and there is easy and difficult. You have reached Delhi, but if you choose the wrong option, reaching Delhi doesn’t guarantee your success. There are two ways, choose the way to blessings, the way to life.

Be like Daniel who trust in the Lord with all his heart. Let us not lean on our own understanding. Whenever we achieve something, always acknowledge Him, give Him the credit. The way to blessing is a God-centred life.
