DOING EVERYTHING IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, Col 3:17. → Rev. K. Kamchinkhup

At the very outset, he greets congregants in the name of Jesus Christ and exhorts them to remain faithful to the Lord.

The challenges that beset us these days are not new things. It was already faced by the earlier Christians during the time of St. Paul’s around 60-62 AD. St. Paul’s message as seen in Colossians was not about salvation but about believers bearing fruits, growing and living in Christ. Our challenges these days were also the same – about growing, living and bearing fruits in Christ. We proclaim to be born again Christians but often fail to bear fruits. Many of us feel we know lots of the Scripture portions, yet In reality we know too less. Had we really know the Scripture we would have bore fruits.

Knowing the Scripture is a requirement to bear fruit in Christ. Let us first accept that we know very less. Christian philosophy is based on the Bible, and it is about Christ. Baptism, in fact, is about one’s proclamation of denouncing our past lives and living new life. We can no longer live like we did before we were born again. Some believers often choose to live as per our own convenience and cannot bear fruits in Christ. Whatever we do, it must be done in the name of Jesus Christ. We are ambassadors for Christ and cannot live like we did in the past.

We should retrospect ourselves whether we live the life of Christ. Christians must live in the footsteps of Christ. We are the trademarks of Jesus Christ and our lives should bring glory to God. Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a Jewish leader was ignorant about what it means to be born again. Likewise, many of us fail to know what we ought to know. The moment Christ comes into our life; we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit and can live a new life. Miss Nancy, 18, in her dying bed exudes the life of a true Christian. So was Rev. Ramlian, who once served the Lord in Nepal mission field. One may not necessarily be a paid worker but is still expected to live for the glory of Christ in whatever office and place we may be working.
