REPORT ON EBC KUMSIM KHAWMPI 70 NA

Attendees of the EBC Kumsim Khawmpi 70 na gave reports on the annual convention that was organized during 6-9 December, 2018, at Gospel Centenary Hall, New Lamka, Manipur.

Upa T Thiankhanmuan: The theme of the convention was “Pathian pomtaak biakna” based on Romans 12:1 which loosely translates as “worship pleasing to God”. Business days were Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th. Reverend L Khamkholun was the speaker at the convention, while Reverend V Khamvum was engaged with Bible Study of the book of James (the epistles of James). EBCC Delhi has presently 12 active Upa and 1 ‘appreciated’ Upa. Evangelical Baptist Convention’s member count stands at 66,295 of which 32,534 are male and 33,656 are female. Reverend Paukhanmang Guite was elected General Secretary of EBC for a term of 3 years. 3 Directors, 7 Divisional Superintendents and 4 Field Superintendents were also elected during the convention. 3 local churches EBCC Manza in Assam, EBCC Val Veng in New Lamka, and EBCC Chandigarh were commissioned.

Upa Thianzakham: [Psalm 103:1-3] [Exodus 20:1-21] [Hebrews 1:1-3] The Lord is the one true God and He is the omnipotent God. We as a Christian nation have a need to change the way we look to The Lord and see Him for what He truly is. Christianity is placing complete trust in The Lord and exhibiting servant-like humility before The Lord.

Upa H Kam Suanthang: David and Saul, both kings in their own right – one of Judah and the other of Israel, fought a long and tiring fight. Saul was all out for the life of David, but David held on to his respect for Saul because Saul was an anointed king. David possessed no vindictive attitude toward Saul either.

Upa Chinsum: The words “the younger shall serve the elder” said of Jacob and Esau seem to resonate now that our old sinful selves have been made new by the blood of Christ and these new and younger selves of ours are master of our old selves. Faith without works is dead. A believer in Jesus cannot but testify his or her faith through his or her actions, which may be in terms of noble offerings, prayer, reading the Holy Bible, worship, etc.

Upa Thangkhosiam: There is more to worshipping God than the routine two hour worship services that are conducted in churches on Sundays. That is to say, the worship of God does not end after the service; rather we Christians must take worship to workplaces, our own homes, places of learning, etc. It is wrong to question God at every hardship and temptation that we face in life, for temptations always come offering us exactly what the heart desires, exploiting our weakness [James 1:13-14].

Upa H Zabiak: Weep now if you must, for you can be too late. Tears are precious. Tears flow when we, in following Jesus, find ourselves overwhelmed with many a hardship. But the deeds we have done will have their reward and our very tears will be wiped away by Jesus at the end of the lives in heaven. For those of us who have no reason to shed a tear now, with their eyes as dry as their souls, it will be too late at the end of their lives when in heaven their eyes shall shed endless tears in regret.
