HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE

At the outset, Pastor N. Tuang Lang welcomes the congregants and informs that Evan. T. Damkhothang, along with his family members visited this morning and greets all the members of this church. The pastor also consoles the bereaved families of this church whose love ones have left for their heavenly abode.

Before the sacramental ceremony of the ‘Holy Communion’ the pastor delivered his sermon on the topic ‘Remembrance’ based on the scriptural portion from Lk. 22:14-19, 23:39-43 and Gen. 40:14, 15, 23. The pastor explains what the scripture means when it talks about ‘remembrance.’ It’s not just about recollection and memories but more of a relationship with Jesus Christ. There are people who we know very well, yet those people may not know us as much as we do.

The Pastors also points out some retrospective questions like what we do for the persons who we remember and whether we are faithful to them. When Jesus mentions about remembrance, it’s about our personal relationship with Him, which is divine.  His love for us is incomparable and His love is beyond our comprehension. The relationship that Jesus made with us is so significant that we became known to God. He knows fully of us, much more than we ourselves know God; and of the divine relationship we have with Him. We neither did not could ever do anything to earn such a relationship like the one we have with God, but He found us and extends His relationship with us. How wondrous and blessed we have been!

The pastor quotes two persons in the Bible regarding remembrance. There were two persons crucified at the sides of Jesus on the Cross. One person insulted Jesus by telling to save Himself from the impending death. However, the other one by the side of Jesus asked Him to remember when Jesus comes into power. Jesus promises him that he would be with Him in Paradise that day itself. To be remembered by the Holy one, God is a priceless gift we received when we are sinners. Does Jesus know you, and when? We are conducting sacramental ceremony of ‘holy communion’ in a short while for only those who have personal relationship with God. The prosperity that God gives in our worldly lives is an added benefit for the children of God. The utmost prosperity and life in store for us still waits.

Joseph was once lodged in prison with the king’s servants. These servants had dreams and had no clue as to the meanings of their dreams. Joseph unfolded the meanings of their dreams and requested the king’s wine bearer to remember him when he is set free. When their dreams came true, the chief cook was executed while the wine bearer was set free. The wine bearer no longer remember Joseph and that was a grave mistake on the part of the wine bearer. We, who are being saved by grace, too decided to remain ever faithful to Him. As a proclamation of this, we even took baptism. How many times then do we forsake God? We should come back and remain faithful to God. The life of witnessing can be displayed in our places of work, houses and elsewhere.
