Theme - “In remembrance of our Lord”
Bible reference: 1 Corinthians 11: 22-25.
He talks about remembrance of the Lord in the following ways:
The past- the remembrance of Jesus Christ’s sufferings and his death
The present- the remembrance of our privilege and our duty towards the Gospel
In the coming days- the remembrance of the hope of His returning
A. THE PAST –
→ The Israelites should not forget the days of the past: the Israelites should not forget the days how the Lord brought them out of their misery through the Passover sacrifice to the Lord who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared their homes when he struck down the Egyptians and that they should commemorate that day as a lasting ordinance. (Exodus 12: 14, 27)
→ Man should not forget how he was reconciled with Christ through his death to present holy in God’s sight, to be without blemish and to be free from accusation. (Colossians 1:21-22)
B. THE PRESENT –
→ The Lord gave his life for sinners like us. It is our duty to proclaim his death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)
→ Since the Lord died for sinners like us and those who believe that he died for their sins no longer live for themselves but for Him. This one should never forget. (2 Corinthians 5:15)
C. IN THE COMING DAYS –
→ We should not forget and continue to do our duty to proclaim his death until he comes. (1 Corinthians 11:26)
→ We as Christians live in the hope of Christ’s returning. We should continue to live in him so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. (1John 2: 28, 29)
