Evan. Paul Pauzakham then came to the pulpit and delivers a sermon on the theme ‘We are the temple of the Holy Spirit’ based mainly on the Scriptural portions from Gen 8:6-12. At the very outset he expresses his gratitude on being given the opportunity to share the word of the living God. He also mentions that a ministry under his own initiative runs simultaneously and for which his family could not join this worship service. He mentions that these days he is receiving powerful messages from the Lord unlike earlier days when he received messages in the form of songs.

Noah was on the boat when the historic flood covered all over the world. As weeks passed he sent out a raven to see whether the water had dried up. The raven kept flying around which, in a way, represents darkness or Satan loitering around in search of people to fool about (Isaiah 14:12, Job 1:6-7). The earth was beautifully made but has been covered with darkness or the power of Satan. He then sent out a dove to see whether the water had gone down (Matt 3:16-17) but the dove could not find any place to land and returned. This dove represents the Holy Spirit that tries to bring us back to the Lord. As the world is covered with darkness, the dove (may be referred to as the Holy Spirit) did not find any place to land. After another 7 days, he sent out another dove and it came back in the evening with an olive leaves on its beak. The new leaf of olive that appears after the flood can be compared to Jesus Christ’s resurrection (Hosea 14:6, Judges 9:8-9).

After 7 days, Noah then sent out a dove again that never returns. This dove can be compared to the Holy Spirit that never leaves us and remains with believers (Eph 1:13). It’s not enough to experience spiritual healing and all other kinds of help from the Lord without getting salvation for our souls. Healings and miracles can never save us from eternal death but only salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit’s dwells within us never to leave us unlike in the times of the Old Testament. In those days, the Holy Spirit comes and goes but never remains throughout the lifetime of any individual as seen in the lives of Samson, King Saul and others. However, in these days, it never leaves us and lives within us. The question is whether we realize it or not. God never leaves believers even for a moment. We are expected to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit as seen in Gal 5:22-23.

Believers should not just follow Jesus Christ but walk with Him. In the journey of Christian life, we should even try to lean and fully depend on Him and let Him carry us throughout this life’s journey to heaven. Let’s try to walk with the Lord not be just a follower.
