Messages shared

Pa V Liankai shared his life story – his troubled past, the big change that came his way, and the events leading up to his taking the church podium in Delhi. Pa V Liankai professed the trustworthiness of the Lord and the abundance of His Grace, and exhorted all those gathered to not stray from the Holy path of God.

Pastor N Tuang Lang took Sunday School teaching on the theme “The wait for the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem” based on Acts 1:12-26. Jesus Christ had arisen and remained with the Disciples and other believers. At the end of 40 days, Jesus left them at Mount Olive telling them to wait for the Holy Spirit. The believers while in wait for the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem spent 10 days constantly praying together with one accord before Pentecost Day arrived. The lesson to be learned from the day’s teaching was that for the Church to grow, constant prayer with one accord, conformity to the words of the Holy Bible, and having leaders chosen by the Lord are vital.

On a few points:

• Acts 1:12: Mount Olive is located between Bethany and Jerusalem. “Sabbath day’s walk” means “at a distance of about a kilometre”.
• Acts 1:13: In the Gospel, the sequencing of names of the Disciples always put Peter’s first, Philip’s fifth and Judas’ last.
• Acts 1:14: The brothers of Jesus had finally believed in him and were with the Disciples in Jerusalem, though they did not believe in Jesus before (John 7:5).
• Acts 1:26: The Disciples cast a lot to get to know God’s chosen disciple – Barsabas or Matthias. This is the last time in the Holy Bible that casting of lots is mentioned, because after the arrival of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost day, the Lord speaks directly in the hearts of believers through the Holy Spirit, thereby no longer necessitating the casting of lots.
