Worship Service Write-up

Sunday family-centric Worship Service | Sept 11, 2016 | Time: 11.00 am

Pastor N. Tuanglang welcomes the congregants in the name of Jesus Christ soon after singspiration led by worship team concluded.

He then delivered his Sermon on, ‘Khotang Hinkhua a Diktatna a kilamthakna' (Rebuilding the society through Righteousness) which is the theme for September 2016 and based his sermon on the scripture portion from Gen.1:28, St.Matt 7:12 , St.Mark 12:31, Rom.12:13-21 and Jacob 1:26-27.

When we say ‘Society’ we refer to the people that constitute a society. To rebuild a society we need to focus on the people. Righteousness is in various forms – lifestyles, conduct, what one speaks, and so on. Jesus Christ Himself is righteousness and when we are rebuilding the society through righteousness an important parameter is whether the presence of Jesus Christ is seen in the society.

Jesus Christ took interest in the society. When he was in this world as a human being his first miracle was at the marriage ceremony in Cana, that was a societal affair. He then cleaned the Temple that conducted business like a market place. He cannot bore things done unjustly. We should reflect upon our society and make sure that we are righteous. Its our responsibility to bring about righteousness in our society.

Some few angles where we should check ourselves:

  • Siatni-phatni (In times of Joy and sadness): We should be concerned about the well being of others and help one another. We should also extend a helping hand to others.
  • Tagah-Meithaite Khotuahna (Concern for Orphans and widows): Jesus was seen visiting the family of Mary, Martha and Lazarous in the New Testament. As there is no mention of their parents in the Bible, they must be orphans. Jesus is always concerned about orphans and widows as we see in other portions of the Scriptures. We should also provide alms to the needy people especially orphans and widows.
  • Lei ven hoih (Keeping our tongues in control): We usually speak what is in our minds. What we speak can bring both good and bad to others. We ourselves are responsible to guard our tongues.
  • Khovel buahna baanglou a kibawl zel ding (Keeping ourselves above the sinful nature of this world): The world has been contaminated by the sins of human beings. We should keep ourselves aloof from sin and not practice what we see and hear which contradicts the teachings of the Bible.

The Bible is given to us to guide and lead our lives in this world. We cannot bring the Bible to heaven. We must practice what the Bible teaches us in this earthly life. We need to rebuild and transform our society through righteousness.
