Sunday Worship Service| 5 January 2025| 4:00 PM
The worship service started off with a reading of Scripture portion 2 Timothy 1:7 and invocation of the Almighty by worship leader, Muang. A heartfelt praise and worship followed.
Upa T Roumuan dedicated the relief donations to the Almighty. Thereafter, Pastor T Lamkhanthang welcomed the first time visitors to the church and also made announcement that the Tuesday Worship Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 3:00PM starting from February.
Pastor T Lamkhanthang took up the pastoral prayer session for the month of January.
Reading out Lamentations 3:40, Pastor T Lamkhanthang began his sermon for the day – Delhi and Time. He emphasized on the importance of spending time wisely. To save time, we often prioritized it over money in a hustle and bustle city like Delhi, and we would rather spend our time on people and things we feel are significant to us. Pastor Thang listed down severals ways we break up our time to do different tasks.
- Effectively breaking up our time to culminate productivity to do our duties – Time we spend on work, sleep, doing household chores, and time we spend to buy everyday essentials/ bazar.
- Time that we set aside – Our screen time (mobile phones, TVs, computers), daily devotion with God, with friends, church related activities, time to help people, and time to take rest. Pondering the question: ‘Do we spend the time that we set aside discerningly? ‘, Pastor urged the congregation to be cautious of the contents we consume through our digital devices, and must be judicious with the friends we make and time we spend with them. He added that making time for devotion with God and church-related activities are paramount as well as being there for people when needed.
- Alone time & Week offs – We must introspect on whether we make alone time or not, and what activities do we engage ourselves in our alone time or during week offs. Pastor added that spending week off at church would be the most satisfactory way we can spend week offs.
Pastor probed an important question to the congregation, “At what time and where are believers most prone to sin?” Is it when we spend time with our significant other, with friends, at work, or on the phone? Reading out from Psalm 90: 12, Pastor Thang pleaded the youths to spend the year 2025 discerningly because we don’t know what lies ahead(Colossians 4:5, Ephesians 5:16, and James 4:14). It is crucial for believers to do the work/purpose that God gave us do just as Jesus finished His commission during the 33years He walked on earth, as mentioned in John 17:4. Pastor read out 2 Kings 20:12-19 and briefed the congregation on the biblical character of King Hezekiah. Even though God added fifteen years of life to King Hezekiah, He was not pleased with Hezekiah, and this led to the destruction of his people. So, we must spend the year 2025 discerningly for the glory of God and prioritize eternal things.
Pastor concluded his sermon with a prayer and made a song request to the worship team, who led the congregation in a heartfelt worship session.
Upa L Ngulminthang closed the worship service with prayer and benediction.
