3rd January, 2016 @ 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM
The Sunday worship conmprised of activities such as Pastoral Prayer and presentation of appreciation gifts to 4 departing BCD teachers. Sunday sermon was delivered by Pastor Biakson based on the topic “May you let this year remain”
Pastor Biakson based his sermon on Luke 13:6-9 and summary of the Pastor’s sermon is as follows:
The arrival of a new year implies that we are nearer to the coming of the Lord. Inspite of this, many of us are neither anxious nor frightened even without having the assurance of salvation. God has brought us into the new year with a purpose – we are given another chance to rectify whatever wrongs we did in the past. In the parable, the man waited in vain and patiently for 3 years for the fig tree to bear fruit. When told to cut down the fruitless tree, he pleaded for the fig tree to be given another year to bear fruit. While most people have departed during the last year, God has brought us into this new year, not because we are deserving, but only through His grace by praying to the Father to give us another chance. Besides, we are endowed with health and abundant blessings by the Lord. These are all for a purpose – to bear fruit and be a blessing to others. To be fruitful, it is imperative that we remain in Him without ceasing our prayers and reading the scriptures. Prayers and reading the scriptures are our breaths and the source of our strength. God wants us to remain in Him always and promise not to abandon us if we remain in Him. He is the vine and it is impossible to bear fruit if we do not remain in Him.
