Worship Team led the congregants in singing hymns of praises and in shouting ‘Hosanna!’ BYF presented a melodious choir. Miss Nemsiam, a soloist, too sang a beautiful song to praise the Lord.
Pastor then came to the pulpit and delivers Palm Sunday sermon on ‘Jesus Christ Is Just What One Needs’ based on Scriptural portions from Zech 9:9 and I Sam 15:22. At the very outset he greeted the congregants, intimated about Pastor Biakson’s visit of the Gangte Worship Service (GWS) for which he could not join the congregation this afternoon and then prayed ‘Pastoral Prayer.’
Jesus Christ led a very humble life and did plenty of good things. However, He was exalted only once. He asked two of His disciples to bring a young donkey from a nearby village which has never been ridden on which He sat and set for Jerusalem. People gathered around Him and spread their cloths for Jesus to ride through. He stirred the minds of the congregants by asking whether the ones who played a very important role in exalting Jesus Christ in that very eventful circumstance during Jesus’ time could only be children. Youths like us must have played significant roles during Christ’s triumphant entry to Jerusalem.
The Pastor focused his sermon mainly on four important points as below:-
.I. Obedience of the disciples and their sacrifices: When believers obey Him, He equips them and could become very successful. One should not despise one’s parents but rather be thankful to them. We should be very grateful and never allow ourselves to be boastful and keep complaining not only on a Palm Sunday but each day. What had been foretold about Christ many years ago did really happened and more about the prediction on what would happen in our future too would come true.
II. Graciousness of the owners of the donkey: By obeying what Christ teaches many changes happens in our families. Obedience and readiness of the donkey’s owners is quite exemplary for all of us.
III. Young donkey’s strength and benefit: Though the young donkey has never been ridden, it became as strong and disciplined like one being trained as Jesus sat on it. It got the strength as required. However timid and ugly a donkey might have been, but because of Jesus the donkey became highly honored. Our coming to Delhi is not out of luck but because of His blessings.
IV. People’s selflessness, sacrifice and contentment: What one does for Christ will not go unrewarded. The more one does and sacrifice for Him, the more satisfied and contented one would become.
Christians means all about obedience, selflessness, offers one’s best. And one who lives according to these values will enter the heavenly Jerusalem.
