God bless Abraham so that he can be a blessing for others. When God called Abraham, he readily follows Him as he truly understands who God really is. Out of his volition, Abraham follows God and became a channel of blessings for all the nations of the world.
A pipe (water pipe) brings waters from far off places to meet the needs of a farm and became the instrument of blessings. So also we, His Children and believers, should be a channel of blessing and bring the Gospel to all nations of the world. Reverend cautioned that while being a channel of blessings, our primary objective should be for spiritual blessing i.e. to pass on the Good News to attain Salvation and blessing for others-worldly prosperity etc. should be secondary, not the other way round.
To be a source of blessing, it is necessary to know clearly God’s calling. All believers know and understand God’s calling. It is also necessary that we need to know why God is calling you to be a blessing. Abraham truly understands God’s calling. One should know the calling of God through Jesus and follow Him on his own will. Our calling is to fulfils Jesus commandment – to go and make disciples of all nations.
God’s calling is for everyone-to the old and young. Josiah was only 8 years young when he became king. God called Jeremiah even though he consider himself very young and do not know how to speak. He called Abraham and Moses despite being advanced in age-Abraham was 75 years and Moses was 80years.
God is calling everyone to be a blessing for others. We should not just be content with our blessings (Salvation) but try to become a channel for others to get that blessing. Everyone should do our bits for the proclamation of Gospel-we can pray, contribute and go wherever God wants us to. Whoever or whatever we may be, God wants to use us for His purpose. Even a young girl from Israel, a captive, who served Naaman’s wife became the channel for the healing of her husband’s leprosy.
God will not use us because of our material possession, riches and wisdom. When we receive Salvation through Jesus, and accept the calling of God, responsibility follows i.e. to catch the lost souls.
Reverend conclude his speech by exhorting everyone that-
Since we already dedicated our lives to Jesus through faith, we should live our life by proclaiming Gospel. We can be a channel of blessings as we are.
It is our responsibility that the non-believers should know the one true God through us, and attain spiritual blessings.
Our life should reflect that we are believers. Through our action and deeds, non-believers should know that our God is the only one true God, as in the case of Daniel.
It is the believers’ responsibility to lead a life which is different from non-believers. We should have the courage to say ‘NO’ to worldly things and lead a life different from them.
