Brief Excerpt of Sharing by Elder Joel Hangzou and Rev. V. Thangkhangin.
Elder Joel Hangzou, Chairman, CSMC:-
Bible References:
- John 17:18. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world
- II Corinthians 9:7. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Elder Joel Hangzou presented a brief report of Mission Activities and the Theme of CMSC. In 2016, the focus was on Giving/Sharing for Missions, in 2017 about Prayer for Missions, both focusing on the seven sub-divisions of Churachandpur, Manipur and in 2018 the focus is and will be more on City Church Missions Motivation. The visit to Delhi was one such plan.
He highlighted the plan of erecting Jubilee Prayer Hall, on the basis of the decisions taken during MiCoGoJ-2017, to be constructed at Lamzang mainly to meet the various needs of our growing Church such as - for organizing Evangelistic Camp, Mission Retreatand Prayer Place etc.
The greatest objective of EBC is Missions. To achieve our objective we need to be a Missions Church. Everyone should be involved in Missions activities. As Jesus loved the lost soul, we the believers, should love and work for the lost souls. Jesus says that as God sent me into the world, I send you, (here all of us) into the world to preach the Gospel.
As believers, we all have duty for the growth and extension of Missions. We need to contribute our bit for the cause of Missions. He asked the congregations (local church) whether we can call ourselves a Missions Church when only about 10 percent has contributed regularly for Missions. He mentioned that in his local church (Hiangtam Lamka) they put a yardstick to call themselves a Missions Church, that beingonly when more than 60 percent of the people contributed regularly for the Missions. We need to have a heart for the Missions and the Lost Soul. “I paid at the beginning Rs. 500/- for the Missions, but not satisfied with it and increased to Rs. 1500/- and continued increasing the amount but that does not led me to debt or in want” continued the Speaker. He asked if we ever took loan for the cause of Missions. We never did but would go to that extent to meet our physical and worldly needs etc. He concluded his speech by saying that EBC should be known as a Church having a Passion for Missions and who have a heart for the lost soul.
Rev. V. Thangkhangin, Director of Missions:
Bible References:-
- II Samuel 24:24:- But the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lordmy God that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
- I Corinthian 1: 3-8:- 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, 5 that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— 6 even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— 7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,8 who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Matthew 28:19:- Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Rev. V. Thangkhangin highlighted the Mission Policy Statement of EBC. One of its policies is to fulfil Jesus great commandment, we have to establish an Independent Mission Field(s) so as to proclaim Gospel to the world. He says that for a city like Delhi a contribution of only 10 percent from the people for the Mission is too little. He exhorted everyone to contribute generously for the Missions and that everyone will be rewarded on the basis of what he contributes and not on the basis of the overall Church contribution.
EBC has a plan that within a period of 10 years i.e. 2011 to 2020, 8 Missions Fields is to be established. At present, it has Mission Field in Nepal, Dhemaji, Karbi Anglong, Manipur and in Sikkim (not yet full-fledged). It has 82 regular Missionary, and 64 Casual Missionary. EBC has a Mission Partnership with the following Organizations:-
- FMPB
- IEM
- Serving in Mission (Bangladesh)
- Overseas Mission Field (Thailand)
- Tangsa Baptist Church
- Worldwide Evangelization for Christ
- Maharashtra Village Mission
- North East Centre for Training and Research (NECTAR)
While appreciating the role of Delhi in Missions Conference cum Golden Jubilee 2017 (MICoGoJ), Reverend invited and urged everyone to once again contribute generously for the Jubilee Prayer Hall building which will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.20 Crore (approx). He dedicated the Pledge Card for the Jubilee Prayer Hall construction, and the same has been distributed among the congregations by TBSUC.
The service was closed by Reverend in Benediction.
