Sunday Worship Service | 12 January 2025 | 4:00 PM
The service began with an invocation of the Almighty by the worship leader followed by a blessed praise and worship session. The offering was dedicated to the Lord by Upa Langkham.
Pastor Suankhanhau announced the new worship timings and area division for the services w.e.f 19 January 2025. As per the new schedule, three services will be held at 10 AM, 12.30 PM and 3 PM and the exclusive BYF service would be subsumed in the three services. He then proceeded to lead the mass prayer.
A short yet memorable report was shared by Sis Jamngaihlun regarding her preparations for mission work, her struggles in life and how God led her in everything. Through her experience, she encouraged the youths to take the next step if they received God’s calling; prioritize worship of God and keep themselves pure as temples of the living God (1 Corinthians 3:16-17); keep away from bad habits and be a witness to non-believers around them; seek God’s guidance in their career choices and jobs; avoid being a discourager/stumbling block to others in words and deeds; etc. for the glory of God.
Speaking on the topic ‘What is our true identity’ based on Colossians 3:1-4, Pastor Suankhanhau briefly illustrated how we are identified in this world, often by our social status, name, fame, intellect, etc. He then propounded on the true identity of every believer i.e. Christ. As heirs of heaven, we are to live as one made alive in Christ shifting our focus from the outward or external to our life which is hidden in Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 makes it clear that from the body all the way to the spirit, we are God’s - bought at a price. It is, therefore, imperative that we know our true identity and are also known by others as belonging to Christ. The point for introspection is whether we really belong to Christ. Is He the One we value most and are willing to die for?
Dissatisfaction comes when we don’t know our true identity. This can lead to depression or even taking the ultimate step. Getting what we wanted does not guarantee a life free from strife. Joy and contentment only comes from knowing we are Christ’s. Two important truths in the message are (i) If we are born again, our life is in Christ and we should live according to His will and (ii) Contentment is not on worldly things like possessions, wisdom or fame but in Jesus alone. The question we should ask ourselves is whether we have joy and contentment through receiving Jesus into our heart. The sermon is concluded with the words of Paul in Galatians 2:20 about living for Christ and urging the congregation to embrace their true identity and live a life according to the will of Christ.
Led by the worship team, the last hymn was sung and the service concluded with a word of prayer by Upa Sonzalian.
