EBCC Dwarka

Dated: 13th September, 2015

The church service starts with an invocation led by Pastor as usual which is followed by Praise and Worship. As Pastor shared his grievances over the situation of Manipur, led the commencement of mass prayer letting the three representatives (ADC) stood to the stage. They were given a chance to share the purpose of their comings; Shri Langkhanpau (Chairman, ADC, Churachandnpur) took the stage share the purpose and highlighted some progresses though the progress is not up to the mark. He announces that the issue of Manipur Tribal had made known to the centre (union) government.

Taking the stand Pastor preached on the topic “COURAGEOUSNESS” based on the book of Joshua 1:1-9. Leaders in the church and in the community need the courage that is right in the Spirit and law of God. Courage is having the guts to stand firm for truth and refrain from wrong. The courage we mean is not about trusting on richness, knowledge, dominating spouse, overpowering someone, controlling or ruining someone else freedom knowing that no one will stand against. Rather the true courageous knows who appointed him and envision the good outcome, which vividly recognized his designation is from God and in favor of his people, who stand for the truth. The pastor puts a question to the congregation on what kind of courage we need at this time. He claimed the fact that real courageousness is lacking when you are living in a democratic country and every decision is an outcome of consensus.

Referring to the current situation in Manipur Pastor acknowledge that in such a crucial time as now we need leader who has the real kind of courage. He too urge the congregation to have the courage not to murmur, gossip or pointing out the mistakes of others rather, stand strong to carry out the truth. Then the Pastor digresses into asking the congregation what type of courage we need and what role each one of us could play. He demonstrated it by giving four major points:

  1. Courage based on God given responsibility:   We defined works and give different names accordingly. Sometimes we only like the name and we keep the real work at second or third priorities. We have to know what work God assigned us. If we are clear that if the work that we do is not from God then we have to turn back right away and seek God. Then God will set us on the right path. As we have seen from the bible God gave Moses a task and since he is assured that the calling come from God, he courageously acted to the calling and did wonders for the Israelites. But since he slighted God’s calling, God took away the responsibility and gave it to Joshua instead, which is to bring Israelites to Canaan. This is why our courage should not stem from any negative energy. Rather, our courage should come from putting our faith in God’s calling.
  2. Courageous based on the promise of God given responsibility: Real courage rely on the assurance from God which result in action. Without the assurance of God’s given responsibility, the act of courageousness are in vain. When God anointed David, Saul conceived a plan to remove David from his sight. Though he took courage in a hot pursuit to kill David however failed. Without any consent from God all courageous are in vain. God assured his presence for whom he appointed as seen in the bible from Joshua 1:9. Doubts are avail when there is no assurance from God. When he appoint he is faithful to his promises even though we face the biggest mountain of troubles. we shall put our trust in God who will never leave us and He is capable of everything. He has assured us that he shall be with us everywhere we go. At this crucial time, it is important to verify who the real enemies are. The biggest enemy, as the pastor puts is the SYSTEM. For the system to change, it must start from the individual then the society which only could change the system. God is not in want of capable leaders. When God rested Moses he chooses Joshua who is equally capable to live up to his legacy. In your daily Christian life, are you assured of God’s calling, are you assured of His presence? It is when one is not clear that allows negative vibes to peep in one’s mind e.g. suicidal tendency.
  3. Courage that relies on envisioning of the real outcome/product: We should be courage when we know where we will land. We only know what to do when we know our destination. If you clearly know what God gave you and what your destination will be, then you will know what you will do each day.
  4. Courageous that stand firm on the law of the Lord: If you act without commitment and are not clear of your calling, your church, society, family will suffer because of your act. Living in the faith of God, trusting his word and relying on his promise and calling is a true act of courageousness and God calls us for that.

Conclusion:

  • We are called to act out courageously
  • We are called to fight the Spiritual warfare courageously
  • We are called to stand firm and be courageous throughout our daily lives.
  • We are called to be courageous in our professional lines
  • We are called to be courageous in righteousness
  • We are called to courageously rebuild the nation.
