Dwarka EBCC | 18 October 2014

One could not help but feel invigorated by the sheer energy which thronged the church today, the day which is solely dedicated to the youths all over the Evangelical Baptist world. Today is a celebration of being young and strong and vital. To be a part of such infectious vitality, one just could not help but be swoop up in the mood, especially when all that boundless energies were all for the glory of God!

THE THREE SESSIONS

Day 1 of the Baptist Youth Day was celebrated on the 18th of October 2014 at the EBCC Church in Dwarka. The day started with Registration and a light breakfast at 9:00 AM. Thereafter, the activities were split into 3 sessions. The first session was called the Sounds of Praise II and started at 10:00 AM. The second session started at approximately 11:45 AM, and was a Seminar presented by the Resource person Rev. Dr. LT Lianzaw. The third and final session was for Contests and began at around 3:10 PM.

The Sounds of Praise II - First Session 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Pastor Nenglian dedicated the Day to the Lord and declared it open, followed by Praise and Worship led by the Worship Team. Thereupon, the hosts Goulian Guite and Dimneih Songput skillfully took charge of the most eagerly-awaited session of all, the Sounds of Praise II which, as is obvious from the title itself, is praising the Lord with music. The Mortal Komiti themselves started the ball rolling with a beautiful song, followed by a wonderful, heartfelt and nostalgic performance from the Tuailailai, a band which consisted entirely of the Local Church Elders! What a moment that was! Then what followed could only be described as moments of ‘sheer musical delight’ as bands like Usual Suspects, BandAid II, Jamian, The Rescued, Decendancy, Secrets of the Vine, Thank You, NakhNakh, Samosa and Realms of Eternity enthralled the crowd with their music. This was interspersed with a Quiz Competition Part 1 based on Gospel songs composed locally where the two hosts which were conducting the quiz tested the overall awareness of the youths present there.

Christian Marriage and City Life - Second Session 11:45 AM - approx. 2:30 PM

Pastor V. Nenglian briefly highlighted the topic for the seminar and introduced the resource person, Rev. Dr. LT Lianzaw and family. The Reverend then began a thorough dissection of Christian Marriage and what it means by purely basing himself on the Bible, the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 19, and Verses 3 till 7. He encouraged the youthful gathering to always use the Bible as the basis for everything. He said that there is only two ways in God’s perspective on marriage: the sacred relationship between a husband and a wife becoming one, and their relationship to Jesus. He shared that this could be likened to an isosceles triangle. He warned that as marriage is made by God or created by Him at the very beginning and therefore sacred to Him, that you would be breaking God’s law if you broke up a marriage!

To further shed light on his point, the Reverend based himself on Jesus’ arguments against the Pharisees as shown in the verses of choice. He explained Jesus’ answer to the two rhetorical questions raised by the Pharisees to discredit Jesus, instead which ended up being a very fundamental explanation of marriage according to God’s law. Jesus very clearly stated that as man and woman become united, they will leave their fundamental allegiances to their parents and instead will transfer those allegiances to themselves. And this union is permanent and holy and thus no man can tear it apart. The Reverend further stated that this means that they will have to stick together through thick and thin. To cause a separation of married couple means to break apart their union, thus killing the oneness that came into being as a result of that marriage.

The sermon was delivered in an empathic yet masterful manner. The Reverend was precise and wholly dedicated to the service of the Lord. It was a privilege to have a brief glimpse of his vast knowledge and dedication. After that, Upa Chinsum thanked the Lord on the success of the sessions thus far and asked for His blessing on the lunch about to be served for the masses.

One after the other, the various Areas competed each other singing a quartet of either the songs ‘Tanglai Lumsuang Kei Di’n Khi’n’ or ‘Kei Tang A Dingpa.’ Quiz Competition part 2 was also held on the Gospel according to Luke, and in between selected persons from the various Areas presented Special Item Numbers. After that, with a final moment of thanksgiving praise and worship led by the Worship Team and a closing prayer from Upa Khamkhanpau Guite, the Day 1 of Baptist Youth Day 2014 came to an end.
