WORSHIP SERVICE ON 10th AUGUST, 2014
The worship service began with a reading from the Scripture and prayer by the Pastor. The Worship team then led the congregation in praise and worship and mass prayer till collection of offerings. Upa N.Chinsum made the offeratory prayer.
Pastoral Prayer for the month of August followed during which the Pastor prayed for the freshers (who were called upon the stage) and for members of the Congregation giving thanks and praising God for his blessings in the past month and praying for His guidance and care during this month.
Langkhothang Ngaihte s/o Mrs. & Mr. Khamkhankhup was dedicated to the Lord by the Pastor after which the Sunday Sermon followed. Brief summary of the Pastor’s sermon is as follows:
Theme: “Called to inherit a blessing” (Bible verse: 1 Peter 3:8-9)
We are chosen/called by God, through Jesus Christ, with a purpose - to inherit a blessing and to be a blessing. The preceding chapters and verses mentioned several instructions on living our daily lives – submission to rulers/authorities, submission of slaves to their masters and proper conduct between husbands and wives. 1 Peter 3:8-9 have laid down what we, as the chosen ones, must and must not do as we walk the blessing path. Having attained salvation through Jesus Christ, the values of unity/harmony, sympathy, brotherly love, compassion and humility are already within each one of us and we must practice these values in our everyday lives. On the other hand, we must not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. Rather, we must repay them with blessings. It is important and necessary to live our lives accordingly in order to be able to inherit a blessing and to be a blessing to others.
The worship service was concluded with a benediction by Pastor (Retd.) V. Songkhothang.
Baptist Youth Fellowship organized ‘Freshers welcome programme’ in the Church basement, after the tea fellowship.
