Selected Bible verse:

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

BYF, EBCC Delhi presented a melodious special song, “Itna Lamdang” / “Amazing Grace” (in Cappella in Paite).

Time has come for the visiting Pastor Letlal to take up his time for the message. Before he starts delivering the message, he called on stage his children, Master Kamminthang and Ms. Vanneihnem, to pronounced the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-10). This was followed by Upa Chinsum who took on stage to read out Pastor’s chosen Bible verse, Acts 9:36-43.

At the outset, Pastor said, in this 21st Century so many people talk about change. But the true change is from Jesus Christ. All the blessings we get, like the good services (private and government), the offerings we offers are from God, the maker of Heaven and Earth.

Today’s Pastor Sermon relates to the life of a woman, Dorcas, written in the book of Acts (9:36-43). Pastor took three points from the life of Dorcas:

1)  She was always doing good and helping the poor (v.36)

Dorcas had a gift/talent, tailoring, from God. Through this gift, she did good things and help the needy enormously. Likewise, God has given us talent and opportunity, such kind of gifts should be taken up with dedication and wholeheartedly to use them in a precious way. As written in Galatians 6:10, we should do good to all people while we have opportunity. And as in I John 3:10, we should love one another in deed and in truth. God has given talent, we should use it purposefully and in a profitable way like Dorcas, so that many people will get benefitted from us through bodily and spiritually.

2) All the widows stood by him (Peter) weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them (v.36)

This shows how those people there miss and love Dorcas so much. In today’s world, people died; when good people died early, we question to say, why he/she died unexpectedly? But God has a plan and a purpose for us. From the life of Dorcas, we should know that God has a plan for us, why we are in this or that city/place or why we are still in this world! Let us preach the Gospel, talk about it, show it in our life and do good work while we have time. If we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and saviour, we ought to do the work of God and preach His words.

3) Many believed in the Lord (v.42)

When Dorcas died, the people of Joppa looked for help from God only. They urged Peter to pray for her. Through this prayer, the life of Dorcas’ came back. This prayer of Peter changes the life of the people in and around Joppa, and they believed in the Lord. Through our or our friend’s prayer, great wonders can be done by which people can know and believe in the name of God.

In conclusion, Pastor summarised thus:-

1) Let each of us think of ourself seriously; do we really use God’s gifted talent in a good way and purposefully like Dorcas?

2) In their hard and unpleasant time, do we preach and befriend people by the words of God?

3) We might or might not have money or, be or not be officers, housewife, pastor, etc., but what is most important is, we should use God’s gifted talent for His glory.

4) As in Colossians 3:17, we should do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus.

5) Even though we might be young, we should live for Him. As in I Timothy 4:12, we should set an exemplary life to people/believers through our words, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

The Church service was closed with benediction by Upa Chinsum.
